As a SpeechLanguage Pathologist, youll play a vital role in fostering communication success for students through a consultative approach. Rather than providing direct onetoone therapy, you will work within a consultative modelcollaborating closely with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to design strategies, supports, and communication rich environments that help all children thrive. You will also provide clinical supervision to Speech Language Assistants (SLAs) , who play a key role in implementing the strategies and programming you design. Through your guidance, SLAs will carry out targeted activities, model techniques, and support classroom teams, ensuring interventions are delivered consistently and with integrity. You will also conduct comprehensive assessments for new students applying to the program to determine eligibility and inform individualized support plans. This position includes maintaining accurate documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to teambased problemsolving to promote student success. What Youll Do Assessment & Progress Monitoring: Collaborate with classroom teams, families/caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members to assess and monitor students speech and language needs. Individualized Instructions: Review and revise measures and goals to ensure instruction aligns with each childs development profile. Treatment Planning & Intervention: Develop differential strategies and interventions that support communication, speech, and language development within classroom and home environments. Case Management: Document and communicate child strengths, achievements, needs, and noteworthy observations with interdisciplinary team members and families/caregivers. Collaborative Goal Development: Work with educators, team members, and families/caregivers to establish and implement consistent communication, socialemotional, and behavioural goals. Family Engagement: Plan and deliver family engagement workshops to build caregiver confidence and capacity in supporting communication development at home. Supervision of SpeechLanguage Assistants (SLAs): Provide clinical supervision to SLAs, ensuring strategies and programming are implemented with fidelity. MustHaves Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology Registered member of Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists or eligibility Experience working with children with complex needs (ASD, FAS, Global Delays, Hearing Loss) Intercultural competence and experience working with diverse populations and English language learners Strong communication and organizational skills. Knowledge of traumainformed practices (or a willingness to learn). Willing participant in annual training in Safe Management practices (employer provided training). Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector completed obtained within 60days of date of hire. Valid Standard First Aid/CPR certification or completion within 30days of hire. NicetoHaves Experience working with preschool aged children. Experience with implementing and coaching on Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Experience in inclusive, multicultural environments. Experience working with vulnerable families including lowincome.
