The primary role of the Sales Manager (SM) is to manage the day to day sales activities within the business. They will be responsible for the sales growth and customer support performance of the company. A large part of this role is to conduct all activities within the sales cycle, from initial contact to final sale, for all potential and existing customer accounts. These accounts comprise all Elite Services customers. The position reports to the General Manager. As a sales leader they contribute to the development and execution of the Elite Services sales plan, accomplishment of overall sales and profit goals, and participate in department projects and key initiatives. This position will be responsible for Western Canada (BC, AB, SK, & MB) Key Responsibility Areas Overall Management Manage technical and other customer inquiries. Ensure timely follow-up to customer calls and issues. Provide technical assistance and support to customers in the application of Elites services and products. Work creatively with customers to identify solutions to problems or complaints. Applies formal problem resolution process when dealing with customer service issues. Works closely with operations and animal care to ensure customer requirements are met on a timely basis Sales & Business Development Works to meet established sales targets Maintain sales from existing accounts Brings in new sales revenue from prospective and existing customers. Build and maintain effective relationships with current and potential customers. Make regular calls to maintain contact and expand relationships Recognize and respond to sales opportunities when dealing with customers. Interpret needs of customers and offer appropriate options, solutions, and resolutions to meet these needs. Devise and implement sales campaigns and tactics to develop new markets for existing products and to support new product introductions. Methods include shows and exhibits, technical presentations (customer specific) Collaborate with Elite to develop suitable marketing materials Internal Customer Service Coordination Acts as a liaison between customers and internal departments such as AR/AP, Operations etc to ensure customer requirements and expectations are met in a timely manner. Communicate effectively with all departments on issues related to customer service, lead times, and any special requirements. Develop and implement detailed sales plans to achieve sales budget and growth targets. Provide feedback to GM on competitor market activities and pricing. Manage customer forecast and demand planning. Administrative Maintain customer contacts database and records files. Keep records of customer interactions, record details of inquiries, complaints and comments. Work with Operations, Animal Care etc. on actions taken. When requested, provide timely and accurate minutes of customer communications to President. Assist AR/AP and finance with management of account receivables, overdue debts and credit limits. Identify and implement sales processes and procedures that contribute towards continuous improvement in the way we do business. Improve direct customer relationships via scheduled courtesy calls and customer surveys. Skills/Experience Be an experienced Manager with demonstrated Sales management and customer care capabilities Comprehensive knowledge of poultry production sector in Western Canada. Sales and business development skills, especially in establishing long-term customer relationships and developing new business from current and potential customers. Develop and maintain an understanding of the supply chain, including knowledge or regulations, licenses and documentation specific to the domestic market. Negotiation skills with emphasis on win-win solutions. Demonstrate strong written and verbal skills to clearly communicate with all levels of the organization and external partners/customers. Develop strong customer and internal relationships by applying interpersonal and people management skills including sensitivity, tact, and professionalism. Deal with changes, delays, or unexpected events in a professional and timely manner. Ability to work in an environment with high cultural diversity Qualifications 5+ years professional sales/business development experience and past success in improving revenue results. Sales, customer service, quality experience within the food distribution industry is a strong asset. Relevant diploma/degree in related field. Self-starter with proven business development skills and the ability to build customer relationships. Proficient in MS Word, MS Outlook, and spreadsheet/database (MS Excel). Capability to work with internal departments, external partners, and diverse personalities in a manner that promotes positive relationships. Ability to travel extensively throughout the Prairies.
