ROLE OBJECTIVE: In this role as a Data Analyst/Scientist on the Data Development team, you will assist in building our core demographic, segmentation, psychographic, and behavioural data products by processing, integrating, analyzing, and visualizing a wide variety of large and small datasets. You will quickly understand and execute existing data processes while providing innovative feedback and ideas for improvement. We seek a detail-oriented, curious, creative individual who can drive change, with a strong interest in population demographics, consumer behaviour, and geography/spatial analysis. Your responsibilities will include building data products, analyzing demographic and behavioural trends, and ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and privacy-compliance of models and processes used to produce insights at small-area geographies (e.g., neighbourhood and postal-code levels). SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: To effectively fulfill the responsibilities of this position, the employee must be able to complete the following: Work within the Data Development team to produce high-quality, reliable demographic and behavioural data products (e.g., population/household attributes, segmentation, attitudes/values, and consumer behaviour). Learn and apply advanced concepts and methodologies related to data products and sources. Acquire, analyze, visualize, cleanse, impute, and transform large datasets from various sources (e.g., census and administrative sources, surveys, and aggregated thirdparty datasets). Ensure data products meet strict quality control standards at various stages of the product lifecycle, verifying outputs are consistent across geographies and time (e.g., boundary changes, coverage shifts, distribution reasonableness, rollups). Analyze demographic/behavioural data outputs to ensure alignment with known population trends, settlement patterns, and market/community characteristics. Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders clearly and concisely. Create clear documentation for methodologies, assumptions, data lineage, and QC results to support reproducibility and knowledge transfer. Stay up to date on changes in Canadian demographics, census geography concepts, and data science techniques relevant to segmentation and consumer analytics. Skilled in Python for data processing, statistical analysis, and visualizations. Proficient in advanced SQL queries with a strong understanding of relational databases. Optimize data pipelines and workflows for efficiency and scalability. Strong problemsolving abilities, communication skills, and attention to detail. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS: Education Bachelors or Masters Degree in a quantitative field such as quantitative Social Science, Data Science, Statistics, Geography/GIS, Demography, Urban Planning, Economics, or a related Engineering degree. Preferred Qualifications 1+ years of experience in building models and developing algorithms for data analysis, ideally involving demographic, survey, segmentation, behavioural, or geospatial data. Familiarity with demographic databases and APIs. Understanding of Canadian geography and spatial analysis concepts. Experience working with Canadian demographic datasets (e.g., Statistics Canada, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Canadian Revenue Agency, Equifax) is an asset. Highly skilled in Python and SQL. Experience with ArcGIS Pro or equivalent GIS software is a plus.
