As a Construction Inspector, your role involves overseeing construction activities and site operations to ensure compliance with contractual specifications, drawings, and project requirements throughout all construction stages. You''ll provide direction and support to junior inspectors, ensuring the meticulous maintenance of records regarding contractor activities. In this role, your duties and responsibilities will include: Construction Inspection & Compliance Conduct thorough inspections of highways, roads, and bridges construction projects in adherence to the Ministry of Transportation, Ontario (MTO) Construction Administration Inspection Task Manual (CAITM), ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. Maintain meticulous and detailed descriptions of contract operations, recording the Contractors activities and progress to support monthly progress and final payments, utilising insights from junior inspectors where necessary. Document the actual time of construction and contractor activities, including areas of work, equipment movements, manpower allocation, and prevailing weather conditions, ensuring comprehensive records are maintained to inform decisionmaking processes. Oversee and ensure the completion of all milestone inspections, documenting each in the appropriate diaries, while also managing additional diaries as directed by the Contract Administrator. Collaborate with Contract Administrators and other relevant stakeholders in the review of project plans and specifications, offering valuable insights and recommendations based on extensive experience and knowledge of project requirements. Team Leadership Supervise and guide junior inspectors in their duties, providing mentorship and support as they document work executed and quantities completed to facilitate accurate monthly progress reports. Health, Safety, and Quality Assurance Support and promote a culture of health and safety by ensuring compliance with policies and proactively identifying and mitigating workplace hazards to protect the wellbeing of team members. Champion adherence to established safety protocols and procedures, prioritising the safety and wellbeing of all personnel and stakeholders involved in MTO projects. Ensure quality control and quality assurance measures are followed throughout the project. Professional Development Managing other related assignments within the scope of the Construction Administration practice area. Support additional assignments within the scope of the Construction & Environmental Division. The qualifications you need Road Construction Senior Inspector Designation (RCSI). Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments. Strong knowledge of Ontario legislation and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Proven knowledge of MTO requirements and standards. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications related to the work. Ability to prioritise and work on several projects simultaneously with tight deadlines. Compensation Hourly Rate: $25 $50, depending on experience and qualifications Mileage Reimbursement: Mileage will be reimbursed in accordance with CRA guidelines Daily Allowance: A daily allowance will be provided based on the project site location Type of Position FullTime Contract The work arrangement This role may require temporary relocation or travel to construction projects across Ontario. A valid Canadian drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
