Emera Energys Asset Management team is responsible for the commercial management and performance of over 4 GW of electric generation located in NYISO, ISONE and Ontario (IESO). As an Asset Manager, you will lead the commercial dispatch of the assets you manage, managing commercial risk and pursuing optimization opportunities on behalf of both your asset owners and Emera Energy. You will be responsible for liaising between your assets external stakeholders and internal partners at Emera Energy, providing an exceptional level of customer service. Key Elements of this Role Lead the commercial management of merchant power assets in the Northeastern US and Canadian energy, ancillary and capacity markets, guiding the development and execution of commercial dispatch strategies, executing fuel transactions, presenting and facilitating hedging opportunities, and having overall responsibility for the commercial and strategic outcomes for our asset owners. Maintain a superior understanding of the northeast power and gas markets with an emphasis on the commercial operation of assets under management, the market rules and associated commercial implications. Ensure that Emera Energys contractual obligations are fulfilled, that all commercial activities function within the framework of governing documents and are compliant with market rules, business practices and relevant regulatory obligations. Develop and implement commercial strategies to manage risk and maximize earnings for assets and Emera Energy. Support Emera Energys 24-hour Energy Marketing Desk; partner with Trading, Logistics, Finance, and Analytics teams; and liaise with external asset stakeholders, plant personnel, and System Operators, to optimize commercial and operational outcomes. Assess market fundamentals and indicators in the near, medium and long term to support strategic recommendations for facilities under management. Facilitate the use of financial products to capitalize on commercial opportunities and manage risk within Emera Energys portfolio. Represent each assets interests through stakeholder engagements. Prepare market-based reports, reconciliations and analysis associated with generating assets. Support a variety of projects with an emphasis on market research, data collection and analysis, leveraging your power market expertise. As a key member of a dynamic team, you will be expected to work flexibly, periodically providing support outside of regular working hours. Skills You Will Need To thrive in this role, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies and skills listed below: You possess an undergraduate degree in a Business-related field with a minimum of 5 years experience in the energy markets. Have strong communication skills, exceptional analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail for problem solving and independent decision making in a fast-paced environment. Must be an entrepreneurial thinker who is dynamic and adaptable to change that can work independently but can also demonstrate strong relationship and team skills. Be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with databuilding analyses and drawing insights from detailed information. The ability to develop code in a variety of languages (VBA, SQL, JavaScript, Python) is considered a definite asset.
