ISL 27R - Senior Data Development Lead AMENDMENT - Job Title - (122546) Location: Burnaby, BC V3J 1N3 CA (Primary) Job Summary The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis, and operates the retail brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores. The LDB is committed to governments goals of making life better for people in B.C., improving services, and ensuring a sustainable province for future generations. The revenue generated by the LDB helps fund essential public services like health care, education, and community programming. LDBs Information Technology (IT) team consists of 7 competency areas: Customer Experience, Infrastructure & Operations (I&O), Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, Software Services, Data Services, and IT Program Governance. Currently 4 divisions managed by IT Directors collectively are responsible for all of the 7 competency areas to deliver the IT mandate of supporting LDBs corporate and business operations and enabling future needs and initiatives. At present, the IT team consists of more than 260 full-time employees and includes a sourcing strategy to leverage external expertise to ensure the integrated IT team continues to deliver LDBs strategic initiatives timely and in high quality. The IT department is responsible for the entire computing infrastructure for all of the 230+ BC Liquor Stores, BC Cannabis Stores, LDBs head office in Burnaby and 4 Warehouse/Distribution Centres including Delta, Kamloops, Richmond, and Victoria. IT department also manages three data centres located in Burnaby, Delta and Kamloops. About this Role Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data Analytics Governance, the Senior Data Development Lead is responsible for providing the Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) with technical and analytical skills concerning the development, enhancement, installation, administration, and maintenance of the organizations mission critical Data Warehouse (DW) and Analytics Data Platform, specifically in the area of Data Integration using modern data integration products. Key responsibilities include: Managing the extraction, transformation and loading of data from diverse operational systems and external data sources to create data sets and databases, in support of the regular and adhoc data analytics for decision making. Understanding the requirements of the business and business intelligence teams to design the data pipeline. Maintaining knowledge of the Branch business, its applications, the content of operational source systems and the physical structure of the underlying databases. Applying fundamental principles of data architecture and data warehousing to play a lead role in migrating data to data warehouse data structures. Serving as an expert consultant regarding current systems/data architecture and assisting in system development and conversion during data warehouse subject area development phases. Position Requirements Education and Experience A degree or diploma in computer science, information technology and a minimum of two (2) years of recent, related experience. Recent, related experience must have occurred within the last five (5) years and must include the following: Experience with ETL (extract, transform and load) tools. Experience in SQL (Structured Query Language). Experience with various databases, such as Oracle, MS SQL Server, Postgres etc. Experience in SOAP or REST or RESTful APIs. Preference Experience with dimensional modeling. Experience with BI tools such as Tableau and Power BI. Experience with Talend Data Integration. Experience with cloudbased data warehouse solutions.
