Must be enrolled for the full 2026/2027 academic year. Not having an upcoming academic co-op term for the 2026/2027 Term of Office: May 2026 April 2027 Location: HMC (In-person). Hours: Up to 20 hours/week, inside and outside of SSU operating hours. Pay: $18.61/hour, pay day is biweekly on Fridays. Organizational Structure This position will be accountable to the Manager, Programming & Events. All employees of the Corporation fundamentally serve the students at Sheridan College. Scope and Nature The SSU represents all feepaying students at Sheridan College. The Mission of the SSU is creating an exceptional student experience through student focused programs, services, and advocacy. The Student Life Events Team is responsible for enriching the student life experience beyond academics. As an important part of the position, the Student Life Events Team Lead will work to help provide strategic direction for the Student Unions social programming. Student Life Leads will also act as a representative of the student body to ensure Sheridan students are given opportunities to engage and participate in all SSU initiatives. Specific Responsibilities Plan, organize, and execute engaging in person events for your campus as well as integrating advocacy and SSU initiatives Help provide strategic direction to create meaningful in person experiences that support the SSU longterm strategic plan. Demonstrate strong leadership skills leading a group of event assistance throughout the event calendar year. Act as venue operation leads with campus specific locations. Understand how the facility functions with sound and production and provide strong customer service skills for all potential stakeholders using the venue. Support all student life programming, SSU Catering events, and other external opportunities that arise. Act as a team lead during evening events. Creatively construct and gather student feedback; analyze students feedback and develop ideas with Director, Programming & Events to construct a monthly engagement draft. Attend necessary meetings with all internal SSU departmental stakeholders including but not limited to: Marketing, Events, Clubs, Executive departments Maintain a constructive relationship with the campus content such as athletics, faculty, security, student affairs, etc. when working together At the direction of the Director, Programming & Events, participate and be present at college and community activities Attend mandatory SU trainings and activities which include: May OFF CAMPUS Retreat (pending) New Student Orientation (Fall & Winter In person) SU 101(In person) Staff onboarding sessions Maintain regular office hours for the purpose of planning, organizing and executing events. Operate in accordance with the Vision, Values and Mission, as well as the bylaws and policies of the SSU longterm strategic plan Educate and advise the next incoming Student Life Leads on duties of the position by creating a continuity package that highlights the year of events proposals, events, postevaluation forms, event budget requests, and any other training materials that would be helpful.
