Role Description This is an on-site full-time role for a Drafter, located in North York, ON. The Drafter will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and designs based on engineering specifications, preparing and revising blueprints, and supporting the engineering team with project documentation. The role will also involve working collaboratively with departments to ensure designs align with project goals, standards, and regulations, as well as maintaining accurate records and related documentation. Role Responsibilities Drafting & Documentation Create and maintain 2D manufacturing drawings and schematics for sheet metal components and assemblies. Generate flat patterns and bend schematics for press brake operations. Prepare laser cutting nests to maximize material utilization and production efficiency. Produce detailed fabrication drawings, including: Bend directions Bend angles Hole locations and tolerances Maintain accurate drawing revisions and documentation control. Manufacturing Support Work with production teams to resolve fabrication issues and update drawings accordingly. Optimize nesting layouts to reduce scrap and material costs. Support prototype builds and adjust drawings as needed. Scan parts using a 2D Digitizer scanner and transfer then into DXF files. CAD & Data Management Maintain CAD models and drawings in the companys PDM system. Generate DXF files for laser cutting. Ensure correct flat patterns and bend deductions are applied. Organize part files and revision history. Required Qualifications Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field 5+ years experience in mechanical drafting or sheet metal fabrication environment Strong experience with sheet metal drawings Experience preparing laser cutting files and nests Knowledge of press brake bending and sheet metal fabrication practices CAD Software Experience with the following Softwares: Siemens NX - Advantage SolidWorks - Advantage AutoCAD Strong skill is a must Bysoft Nesting Software Advantage 2D Digitizer Scanning Advantage 3D Scanning - Advantage Preferred Qualifications Experience in vehicle, heavy equipment, or defense manufacturing Understanding of: Bend allowance K-factor Minimum flange rules Sheet metal tolerances Familiarity with laser nesting software Experience working with high-strength steels or armor materials Key Skills Strong attention to detail Good understanding of manufacturing processes Ability to interpret engineering designs into fabrication drawings Strong communication with shop floor personnel Ability to manage multiple drawing revisions and priorities Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 per annum INKAS Commitment INKAS is committed to the principle of equal employment opportunity for all employees and to providing employees with a work environment free of discrimination and harassment.
