Job SummaryThe Radiation Oncology Program delivers treatment and care to patients, and is also active in pursuing research and innovation that will positively impact patients. However, since physician and scientist time is mostly spent in direct clinical support activities, the time needed to pursue research opportunities, including securing research funding, is very limited. The purpose of the Scientific Research Officer is to directly support and assist the organization and execution of research efforts in the Radiation Oncology Program. The long-term objective for this position is to help leverage additional external research funding and grow research productivity across the Program.This position includes a full range of grant support duties (including identifying external grants, budgeting, monitoring, contract reviews, and reporting), project coordination, literature reviews, analysis of research programs, and preparation of materials for the dissemination of knowledge to varied audiences.The Scientific Research Officer is responsible for coordinating with researchers to develop research operations plans, external grant applications.The officer will be resourceful and independent, and work within the framework of an integrated research program and team-oriented environment. Ability to adjust to changing priorities and meet deadlines will be necessary.The Scientific Research Officer is an integral member of the Radiation Oncology Program, working closely with the team to ensure all research projects are aligned with CCMB research priorities. Once a research project is approved and funded, the Research Officer will ensure these projects are well positioned to be successfully initiated, and assist with monitoring project progression where needed, to ensure projects are completed to specification, and closed in a timely manner. QualificationsRequired:Ph.D in a relevant scientific discipline from an accredited educational institution.
