Convergint is currently recruiting for an experienced Security Systems Technician to join their Parachute Team in Canada. This is a mobile role with regular travel outside the local area. This role offers a regular shift of 14 days on, 14 days off, with accommodation provided for the duration of your shift. As a technician in our Security Parachute (travel) team, this position is responsible for installing, programming, system startup/checkout, certification, and related customer training on assigned Security projects. Scope of work includes technical assistance, systems checkout of new and existing installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance and repair routines associated with installed systems and the installation of small or less complex projects. What youll do Installs, programs, tests, repairs, and services a substantial variety of security systems and equipment. Reads complex blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation requirements; interprets manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repairs equipment. Diagnoses, troubleshoots, repairs, and debugs a substantial variety of systems for complex problems. Operates systems to demonstrate equipment, commissions new systems, analyzes performance, and identifies malfunctions. Writes nonroutine programs of substantial variety and complexity for systems. May provide custom systems integrations, detailed systems upgrade planning and execution, systems audits and consultation, and/or database management and manipulation. Consults with engineering team to resolve unusual problems in system operation, maintenance, and warranty work. Acts as the customers best service provider at all times, ensuring Convergint is the customers first choice for service. Takes ownership of onsite project including safety, quality, and performance. Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required. What youll need Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to anticipate and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted. Advanced technical skills and experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems. Must be a selfstarter and work well with minimal supervision. Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper). Valid drivers license required. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Advanced organizational skills. Highly proficient computer skills including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel). Requirements Minimum of five years of previous, security systems field service experience. Ability to obtain a security clearance an asset. This is a mobile position and significant travel is required. Diploma in Electronics preferred. Relevant trade experience preferred. Industryspecific certifications such as Lenel, Genetec, CCure, AMAG, Kantech, Avigilon are an asset.
