Reporting to the Director of Care and Assistant Director of Care, our BSORPN will contribute by sharing behavioral support to the residents, demonstrating knowledge with dementia care and mental health issues. An individual will be responsible for coordinating with multiple stakeholders for the development of a personcentered philosophy of care for the residents. This is a fulltime permanent role with working hours of 10am6pm and 12pm8pm including a rotational weekend schedule, though extended hours may be required from time to time. The environment is fastpaced and deadlinedriven, requiring high attention to detail and strong timemanagement skills. The role includes regular use of computer systems and collaboration with crossfunctional teams. Key Responsibilities Contribute to delivering personcentered care by promoting the abilities and selfesteem of the residents, develop strategies to promote optimal quality of life for the residents with the responsive behaviors. Conduct assessments using various assessment tools which describe behaviors of residents including observational behaviors, identifying behavioral risks, and identifying caregiver strategies. Ensure the plan of care is regulated with responsive behaviors of residents in regard to the staff providing care and mitigating risks by conducting weekly rounds. Communicate with external stakeholder and management team to identify the risks associated with responsive behavior. Demonstrate participation in quality improvement activities and provide monthly reports. Provide coaching and mentorship to the staff to ensure collaboration of care and services for the responsive behavior. Conduct resident care reviews and attend quality program meetings including P.A.C. Collaborate with the pharmacists and physicians for the consultation regarding the effect of medication treatment on residents. Participate in the staff development programs and seminars and require attending ongoing training to support skills in managing residents with responsive behaviors. Assist in tasks by considering policies of the home and the behavioral support Ontario project. Maintain amazing relationship with all the stakeholders including staff, residents and the general public. Provide an excellent customer service to all the stakeholders and assist in the administrative duties of the home. Other duties as required. Knowledge And Skills Required Appropriate current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario. Minimum two years of experience required in a similar role, preferably in the longterm care setting, with comprehensive knowledge of duties. Degree in human psychology, or behavioral sciences would be considered as an asset. A serving heart and a passion for caring for seniors. Registration/eligible for registration with the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario. Ability to work individually and as part of a team, to prioritize tasks in order of urgency. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and comprehension skills. Developed creative problemsolving skills to look at the big picture. A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of hire date. Completion of a 2step TB skin test within the last 12 months.
