Job Type & Duration: Full-Time, Permanent Vacancy Hourly Rate: $42.63 - $44.54/Hr Hours & Shift Information: 12hour (6AM6PM / 6PM6AM) or 8hour shifts (6AM2:30PM) and occasional split shifts (6AM6PM) Number of Positions Open: 1 Posting Period: 20Mar2026 to 03Apr2026 Major Responsibilities Operates, maintains and repairs process equipment and related appurtenances in an advanced water or wastewater facility including but not limited to pumps, pressure vessels, valves, compressors, gas engines, electric generators, boilers, HVAC systems, sludge dewatering equipment, incinerators, digesters, chemical feed equipment, filtration equipment, floatation systems and refrigeration units etc. in compliance with 0. Reg.219/1. Accountable for personal performance and promoting optimum team performance in achieving work area process objectives in Toronto Water. Fosters and supports a team environment. Assumes responsibility for the operation of related equipment in the applicable work area and provides technical and operational expertise as required. Provides work direction to staff as per 0. Reg.219/01. Inspects, monitors, tests, records and analyzes process equipment to optimize performance, taking into consideration cost, local and/or facilitywide process impacts, equipment capabilities, possible environmental impact, etc., and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and standard operating procedures. Conducts tests and adds chemicals as required. Utilizes operating/maintenance systems such as the Process Control System (PCS), Electronic Operating System (EOPS), Work Management System (WMS), and Performance and Operations Management System (POMS) to ensure optimum operating performance. Makes timely operational decisions and addresses/responds to alarm conditions and emergencies to ensure operational sustainability and efficiency within established performance and quality limits. Isolates and locks out equipment to support/perform maintenance activities. Ensures cleanliness and safety of facilities by maintaining and cleaning work areas and promoting same. Job Profile Utilizes process operations, sampling and laboratory analysis results to interpret equipment performance. Performs process control and operational laboratory tests, boiler water tests as required. Maintains documentation of all work area activities using a manual and/or computerized system including but not limited to logbook administration, computer records review, accident reports, alarm responses, etc. Initiates material purchase orders, issues materials documents, receives materials, maintains inventories and records and follows up on maintenance quality. Initiates the callin of other applicable/qualified staff on evening and weekends to deal with emergencies. Trains, directs, assists and supports skilled, semiskilled, unskilled staff and trainees as required. Performs all work assignments safely in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Regulations that apply to this work and other related legislation. Works rotating shifts. Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to: Key Qualifications Must possess and maintain a current Certificate of Qualification as a Stationary Engineer Third Class or better, in accordance with 0. Reg.219/01 as amended. Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Province of Ontario, ClassIGl Driver''s License and must have or shall be required to obtain required City permit for assigned vehicle(s) and equipment(s). If offered employment in this classification without holding any Ministry of the Environment (MOE) Operator Certification of CompetencyWastewater Treatment System or an OperatorinTraining (OID license), the successful applicant will be required to write and pass the Level1 certification exam in the appropriate discipline within 90 days from their employment start date in this classification and must also attain their full Level1 license within one year from their start date in this classification and maintain the license while in this classification. Must have a Grade12 secondary school diploma, or equivalent as recognized by the MOE. You Must Also Have Knowledge of the processes, procedures and equipment used in advanced wastewater and/or water treatment and/or water distribution (transmission) operations. A practical knowledge of process control automation systems with ability to interpret process information. Working knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and record keeping. Must have a working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and demonstrated ability to operate utilizing standard operating procedures. Must have knowledge of applicable environmental and other applicable regulations that apply to this business environment (Water & Wastewater Treatment and/or Water Distribution and/or Wastewater Collection, including construction sites). Strong analytical and problemsolving skills. An ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, prepare detailed reports and maintain neat and accurate operating records, as per regulatory requirements. Must possess computer skills including the ability to operate various software programs, ability to make necessary calculations and interpret data to ensure processes stay in compliance. Knowledge of sampling techniques, analytical procedures with the ability to interpret and make process adjustments. An ability to work well in a team environment. Ability to operate a forklift truck and scissor lift and obtain the appropriate licenses. Ability to work from heights and to perform work in confined spaces. Ability to work outside normal working hours including shifts, weekends, overtime and to report to call outs. Ability to orient new staff on assigned vehicles/equipment.
