Klinic Community Health is a prochoice community health centre that provides primary care, education and counselling services to our local community and throughout Manitoba. Position Overview As a member of Hummingbird, this position provides individual and group counselling to clients who have experienced sexual assault or other forms of sexual violence. Services are offered to people who have experienced sexual assault as well as those who may be impacted by the sexual assault of a loved one. Services are delivered through an empowermentbased, traumainformed lens, and within the broader context of the social determinants of health. The position also supports the work of Hummingbird through volunteer training, public education and committee work. Qualifications Undergraduate degree in social sciences; graduate degree preferred Minimum two years supervised inperson counselling experience Thorough knowledge and understanding of crisis intervention and suicide prevention Thorough knowledge of posttraumatic stress, the recovery process and experience counselling people affected by sexual assault and sexual abuse Thorough knowledge of domestic abuse, its effects and dynamics Thorough understanding of issues related to addictions Thorough understanding of mental health issues and the mental health system Demonstrated competence in risk and clinical assessment Thorough understanding of the social analysis of male violence against women Awareness of and sensitivity to issues of cultural diversity Knowledge of community resources Proven ability to work from an empowerment model Ability to work independently and demonstrate decisionmaking abilities Proven ability to promote team and program functioning Demonstrated effective communication skills Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings Responsibilities Provide counselling, information and referrals Link clients to appropriate community services Chart appropriately according to Klinic Policies Provide public education and training activities Liaise with community resources and service organisations Participate in program development Work as part of a team and promote team functioning Assist in development of resource materials Other Duties Participate in training courses and in services offered elsewhere and by Klinic to maintain and improve quality of service Attend staff meetings as required Participate in program planning, evaluation and quality monitoring, including completing daily statistics Participate in formal selfevaluations by identifying strengths and limitations Seek appropriate supervision/consultation of own actions Adhere to all agency policies, protocols and promote best practices Perform other duties and functions related to the job description not exceeding the capacities stated above Requirements Satisfactory Criminal Record, Child Abuse and Adult Abuse Registry checks Completion of ASIST training Salary Range $43.004 per hour $52.900 per hour Additional Information Klinic is committed to working towards having a more equitable and diverse workforce at all levels of our organization.
