Position Summary The Senior Sonographer is responsible for performing advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures, mentoring junior staff, ensuring quality assurance standards, and supporting departmental leadership in maintaining excellence in patient care and imaging services. The Diagnostic Imaging Department is seeking a Permanent Full Time Senior Sonographer to join the DI team. Effective date: April 13, 2026 Responsibilities Perform routine and urgent procedures in accordance with established departmental Policies and Procedures manuals, ensuring the acquisition and documentation of high-quality diagnostic images. Examinations include, but are not limited to, abdominal, OB/GYN, breast, vascular, and small parts. Experience in musculoskeletal as well as assisting in interventional procedures an asset. Provide supervision, mentorship, and clinical instruction to both new hires and students during their clinical placements. Provide continuous performance feedback to sonographers, offering constructive guidance and recommendations for skill development and improvement. Ensure imaging and biopsy equipment is maintained in proper working condition, including managing equipment inventory and collaborating with departmental leadership to coordinate repairs, servicing, and procurement of new equipment when necessary. Demonstrate a strong commitment to teamwork by contributing to efficient departmental workflow and fostering effective collaboration within Diagnostic Imaging and across hospital departments. Essential Qualifications Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO). Credentialed member of Sonography Canada. Completion of an accredited degree/post diploma Ultrasound program or recognized equivalent. Minimum of five (5) years experience performing a range of sonography exams, including breast and obstetrics, in a hospital setting. Demonstrated experience or certification as a clinical instructor or educator. Minimum of one (1) year experience providing direct student oversight and/or evaluation. Proven clinical expertise and professional leadership skills, with a focus on collaborative teamwork, patient flow optimization and quality improvement initiatives. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Strong problem solving and critical thinking abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated commitment to service excellence and patient-centered care. Ability to effectively manage stressful situations and resolve conflict in a professional manner.Demonstrates strong accountability for responsibilities, outcomes and deliverables. Hours of Work Must be available to work 8hour day, evening, and night shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays and standby/call back may be required.
