Qualifications Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba as a Physician Assistant or Clinical Assistant. Medical graduate of an accredited program in Canada or abroad. Completion of a Clinical Assistant Assessment or NAC OSCE or LMCC. Graduate of a Physician Assistant Educational Program acceptable to CPSM. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and other IT applications. Demonstrated organizational, problemsolving, decisionmaking, and flexibility skills. Demonstrated knowledge and competence in concepts and skills related to the position. Demonstrated communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to perform duties on a regular basis and support a culturally diverse population. Ability to work effectively with coworkers, clients, and interdisciplinary teams. Position Summary The Physician Assistant/Clinical Assistant will perform physical examinations, and perform, order, and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic investigations/interventions. They will also attend clinical and educational rounds. Administrative responsibilities include recording all patient encounters following the standard of practice, potentially dictating or using electronic medical records when available. Assistants must communicate effectively in English with other members of interdisciplinary healthcare teams. Responsibilities Overview Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic investigations/interventions. Perform physical exams. Take medical histories. Make diagnoses and develop management plans. Provide counseling on preventative health care. Arrange consults and referrals.
