CanAtom, a joint venture between AtkinsRalis and Aecon, is delivering the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station Refurbishment Project under a collaborative contract with Ontario Power Generation. The joint venture is underway to complete the retube, feeder, and boiler replacement (RFBR) of Units 58. Building on the successful delivery of the Darlington Refurbishment Project, the CanAtom team brings proven experience in safely executing complex nuclear projects on time and on budget to support Ontarios clean energy future. The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Senior Advisor reports to the EHS Director and is responsible for providing health and safety advice and assistance to the projects Line Supervisors. The Senior EHS Advisor will supervise a small team of EHS Advisors engaged in the development, implementation, and auditing of the Safety Program for the Projects. Responsibilities Provide leadership and direction to the EHS Advisors and line management in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS management systems and processes. Oversee and develop Employee Environment, Health and Safety orientation and Sitespecific orientation for workers, owners, and clients. Mentor supervisors and staff on the Aecon Health, Safety and Environmental Manual. Ensure critical systems such as FMEA, JHAs, JARR cards, observations, inspections, and audits are completed as required. Ensure effective riskmitigation plans are in place, including environmental management, emergency preparedness/response, and communication plans, and that they are continuously developed, maintained, and implemented properly. Oversee, monitor, conduct, and facilitate observations, coaching, and inspections in the workplace. Develop and facilitate EHS presentations to clients. Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committees. Ensure accidents/incidents are recognized and investigated promptly, providing leadership in all facets of training, reporting, investigation, and analysis. Provide measures of loss and riskmanagement improvement through accident/incident trend analysis to support annual performance targets. Work with the Environmental Representative to ensure environmental risks are identified and addressed in the Environment Management Plan and that the plan is executed accordingly. Recommend environmental and safety products for the workplace. Liaise with Government agencies. Prepare reports and deliver presentations to workers, project leadership, and clients. Support the management of Return to Work and Modified Duties cases at the field level. Support Human Performance Program activities. Participate in daily tailboards and weekly safety meetings. Provide supervision and leadership to EHS Advisors, including daytoday task assignments and ensuring timely, highquality completion. Qualifications Possession of or work towards a designation such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certificate of Recognition (COR) Auditor and National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) is an asset. Proven EHS experience in a nuclear environment, working on Steam Generator Replacement Projects. Knowledge of Construction projects with a solid understanding of the Occupation Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and related regulations. Incident Investigation training/experience considered an asset. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate with tact and diplomacy. Exceptional organizational and timemanagement skills. Excellent meeting and training facilitation. Adaptable and flexible to an everchanging environment. OPG or Bruce Power Security Clearance would be considered an asset. Require a fieldobserving ability: walk >3km per day, climb minimum 3 flights of stairs, and occasionally ladders. Require flexibility to support project demands, including shift work, extended hours, and occasional weekend or night work throughout the project duration. Must work within a nuclear environment. Various work locations in both field and office. Frequent travel between work sites. Must work in respirator and plastics as required. Potential entry into confined spaces and working at heights. Radiological environments. Must meet mandated nuclear export controls requirements.
