Location This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton, South Campus Edmonton, and Campus Saint-Jean. The incumbent''s primary goal is to provide a sage, aesthetically pleasing landscaped campus environment for the University community, which includes but is not limited to students, staff, and visitors. The incumbent acts as a contact between students, staff, and visitors, and is responsible for the general upkeep of both hard and soft landscaped areas. Because of the nature of the position, the incumbent must be a self-starter and take initiative on projects on their own accord. Responsibilities Reports to a Lead hand, Landscape Services as part of a maintenance area team. Perform a number of manual labor tasks utilizing a variety of common hand tools. Litter collection campus wide and waste removal from waste containers. Shrub and flower bed maintenance (planting, digging, pruning, weeding, hoeing, rototilling, etc.). Use push lawnmower and line trimmer to maintain turf areas. Maintain building entrances free from snow, ice and debris to ensure safety of stakeholders as outlined in the Management Plan for Ice and Snow Control. Pond maintenance. Qualifications High School Diploma. Must possess a valid Alberta Class 5 (non-GDL) drivers license. Must be able to provide a recent copy of a three-year drivers abstract with no more than six (6) demerits and/or two (2) moving violations within the last two years. Minimum 1 yr experience in related position. Horticulture Diploma or Journeyman Landscape Gardener License considered an asset. Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
