On behalf of our client, L.B.H. Timber Mart, we are seeking a Financial Controller, either full-time or part-time, and based out of their St. Albert location. *Salary will depend on part-time or full-time status, designation, and experience. Position Summary The Financial Controller will play a critical leadership role in overseeing the financial operations of two related entities within the L.B.H. group of companies. Working closely with ownership, senior leadership, and external accounting partners, the Controller will strengthen financial governance, enhance reporting accuracy, and support strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities Oversee month-end and year-end close processes for two legal entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Prepare and present monthly financial reporting packages, including variance analysis and insights Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes Prepare and file GST and other applicable tax filings in compliance with regulatory requirements Maintain organized year-end working papers and support schedules for external accountants Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes across the group Monitor cash flow, working capital, collections, and payment timing Investigate unusual balances, variances, and reporting discrepancies and recommend corrective actions Support and monitor insurance coverage, risk management practices, and internal control frameworks Collaborate with the President, Information Systems Manager, and leadership team on process and system improvements Serve as the primary finance contact for shared services functions, including payroll and HR Identify financial risks, control gaps, and operational inefficiencies, proposing practical solutions Lead and contribute to special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned Qualifications & Experience Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) strongly preferred Minimum of five years of progressive experience in a Controller or senior accounting role Strong technical accounting knowledge, financial modeling expertise, and advanced Excel skill Demonstrated experience collaborating with external accountants and ensuring the systematic organization of year-end files and supporting schedules.
