The McCain Global Legal Team provides legal services and assists with the management of risks associated with our global business operations. As we continue to grow, we are seeking to fill the position of Legal Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel, Sustainability. This individual will be part of McCains Global Legal Team. In this role, you will act as the key internal legal advisor and point person in relation to sustainable product initiatives (including environmental claims in relation to products), sustainability strategy and commitments and global sustainability reporting, as well as with respect to other evolving social responsibility regulatory areas around the world. Working closely with internal Sustainability, Marketing and other commercial colleagues, as well as with a network of external counsel in key regions throughout the world, you will provide sound and pragmatic advice to further the organizations efforts in relation to sustainability and other social responsibility areas. This hybrid position will be based out of our global corporate headquarters in downtown Toronto and report to the General Counsel, Americas and VP Legal, Sustainability. This role is to fill an existing vacancy. The idea candidate will have a minimum of 4 - 10 years of regulatory (competition/ environmental) and/or sustainability experience gained from private practice or in house. You are a team player with sound judgement, a business mind and the ability to build relationships and instill trust with internal stakeholders. You have proven experience in overseeing, streamlining and moving projects forward with sound organizational skills and the ability to multi-task. You possess the confidence to instruct external counsel in multiple jurisdictions and to educate, train and advise internal stakeholders on the evolving regulatory landscape in relation to sustainability and other social responsibility regulatory areas. A down-to-earth personality, positive outlook and strong interpersonal skills will be necessary in this friendly environment.
