We are seeking two highly skilled engineering professionals: an Engineer, Resource Development & Assessment (RDA), and an Engineer, Facilities and Infrastructure. Engineer, Facilities and Infrastructure Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the position delivers critical technical inputs to support Government of Alberta operations and policy development. The engineer provides advice on energy and minerals facilities, infrastructure constraints, energy metrics, technology assessments, and modeling for oil sands, petroleum, natural gas process systems, coal, mineral, and CCUS projects. Engineer, Resource Development & Assessment (RDA) Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the incumbent delivers technical inputs on subsurface resource development, reservoir modeling, enhanced oil recovery, and assessments of oil sands, petroleum, natural gas reserves and production, and related projects. Both Positions Key Accountabilities Assesses petroleum and natural gas, coal and mineral, CCUS, disposal, renewable and/or alternative energy related projects. Review innovative technologies impacting the energy industry. Provide technical input on Life Cycle Analysis and the emissions from oil and gas facilities. Provide technical input to briefings and working groups on energy infrastructure within Alberta. Provides technical input to other business areas to support the decision-making process for operations, program decisions and policy development. Prepares and conducts technical presentations. Provide technical support to Auditors, Policy, Operations, and Legal. Provides resource related technical and economic assessments for Oil sands, coal, minerals, petroleum and natural gas reserves and land use framework related projects requiring an analysis of the values of resources within projects areas. Includes assessment of pore space for disposal and/or CCUS. Develop and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with representatives from Alberta Energy and Minerals, other Government of Alberta ministries, and key external stakeholders. Tracking and documenting technical and engineering methodologies; the incumbent will be expected to stay current with new technological developments as they occur. Working closely with technical, geological and engineering staff in the Professional & Program Services Branch and more broadly within Alberta Energy and Minerals and the Government of Alberta. Participates on joint industry/government committees to provide administrative staff with technical opinions related to proposed changes in legislation and policy and to maintain awareness of industry trends and issues. Eligible for membership with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) is also required. Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis. The following will be considered assets: Experience in the upstream and/or downstream sector of the oil and gas industry. Knowledge of technical and economic assessments related to energy projects, facilities and infrastructure. Strong presentation and project management skills. Knowledge of oil sands, oil and gas recovery methods, and processing. Notes Hours Of Work: 36.25 hours per week (full time) Monday to Friday.
