The successful candidates will be primarily responsible for the collection of various liquid and solid hazardous waste from various customer sites.**GFL Benefits:*** Our industry leading benefits package (100% employer-premium paid)* RRSP Matching: We support your future goals by matching your RRSP contributions* An environment that encourages professional growth and development* Be a part of the Full-Cycle Project initiative a way to give back to the community* Overtime pay**Key Responsibilities:**The Emergency Response Operator will respond to various incidents such as:* Environmental and Industrial spills* Clandestine laboratory decommissioning* Highway incidents involving tractor trailers, accidents, and chemical leaks* Train derailments involving hazardous chemicals, fires, and site safety planning.* Marine operations mostly regarding fuel spills into open bodies of water. Involving boom deployment and boat operations.* Weather event responses involving wind/ice storms, forest fires, and flooding.* Chemical assessments and advisory services.* Working alongside police, fire, EMS, Environment Canada, and other stakeholders.* Incidents involving heavy equipment, vacuum trucks, and water blasters.* Collection of hazardous and non-hazardous goods* Participating in job specific and health & safety training as required* Completing work related documentation and reporting* Perform work in a safe manner, so as not to endanger oneself or others Reporting workplace hazards, accidents or other occurrences that may pose a risk to the organization or the safety of oneself or others* Adhere to the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety & Insurance Board Act, Ontario Human Rights Code and Employment Standards Act* Participate in team/staff meetings when required* Work in a manner that preserves confidentiality and minimizes risk**Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:*** Valid AZ and/or DZ license* Must have flexible availability.* Strong work ethic* Willingness to learn* Highly motivated* On-call work availability for emergency response* Valid Certification in First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain within 3 months of employment)* Manual dexterity, ability to lift 75+ lbs required.*We thank you for your interest.
