Job Description

Becoming a police officer with Peel Regional Police means joining a profession grounded in service, respect and community safety. Our officers play a vital role in helping people, preventing harm and building meaningful relationships. We value the unique perspectives, cultures and lived experiences each officer brings because together, they make us stronger and better prepared to support Peel Region. If youre motivated to make a positive difference in your community, a career in policing may be the right path for you. Police constables are fully sworn officers who serve on the front lines of policing. They respond to emergencies, protect public safety and enforce the law. Constables work directly with the community handling calls for service, conducting investigations, deescalating conflicts and assisting in urgent situations. They also play a key role in building public trust. As the first point of contact for many residents, constables strengthen community relationships through visibility, communication and problemsolving, helping create safe and supportive neighbourhoods. Cadets are aspiring police constables who receive early training and handson exposure to policing. While they are not sworn officers, cadets learn essential skills, support nonenforcement tasks and gain insight into daytoday police work. They assist with community events, administrative duties and observational learning to better understand policing responsibilities. The cadet program is a key pathway into law enforcement, offering practical experience, mentorship and structured development that prepares participants for full constable training.
