Youre here to build whats next, on a team that outperforms every norm. - (Internal Title: Construction Safety Officer) - Reviews arcflash studies, lockout/tagout plans, switching procedures, and energizedwork permits for systems such as substations, MCCs, transformers, and distribution panels. They assess contractor execution of highrisk tasks (i.e. cable terminations, breaker racking, feeder installations, grounding, and commissioning tests) to ensure compliance with electrical codes and safework standards. - Ensures hazards are identified early, controls are implemented in the field, and all energization, testing, and cutover activities are completed safely and systematically. - Provides construction safety expertise to the ECE Group, as well as various other Capital Projects across the client projects. - Acts as a technical resource related to legislative requirements for construction projects, safety programs and procedures. - Provides Electrical subject matter expertise. - Performs assessment (i.e. Risk assessments HIRAs, Job Safety Analyses, arc flash assessments, shock hazard assessments) and provides recommendations regarding priorities. - Review of project plans and participates in the development and review of corporatelevel electrical safety program. - Develop or review specific electrical safety procedures, as required. - Develop or review any work planning tools, as required. - Develop and deliver electrical safety training, as required. - Review electrical safety PPE requirements, as required. - Provides oversight of electrical safety service provider field activities and reviewing deliverables of service provider, as required. - Reviews and assesses Contractors Safety Plans and Safe Work Methods. - Conducts construction site safety observations, issues reports and ensures close out of items. - Develop safety training materials. - Develops presentations related to isolation of energy sources and electrical, substation, and battery room etc. access, amongst others, as assigned. - Conducts safety training and awareness sessions within the ECE Group, as assigned. - Conduct incident investigations, root cause analysis and recurrence prevention as applicable. - Develop safety communications or other safety related information on various topics as assigned. - Assist with revision of various ECE health and safety procedures or corporate-level initiatives, as assigned. - Monitors compliance with applicable government legislation and regulations. - Liaises with various internal client departments, external agencies and material suppliers concerning safety matters. - Working Conditions - Office-based - With all our roles, there is some inperson time for collaboration, learning and building relationships with clients, peers, leaders and communities. HERES WHAT YOULL NEED: - Minimum of (10) years experience in construction safety discipline. - College Diploma or Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Risk Management, and industry experience. - Advanced understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction Regulations, its application on construction projects, establishment of strong safety culture onsite and accident prevention techniques, compliance with external and internal policies. - Safety professional designations including at least one of the following: - Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) - Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) - Canadian Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) - National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE: - Other professional and technical designations are considered an asset. - Strong understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction regulations and its application to construction projects. - Familiarity with Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training, Skills and Development, Electrical Safety Authority, WSIB, TSSA, policies and practices and their relationship to the transit industry. - Familiarity with IHSA COR Program. - Excellent knowledge of electrical safety processes, specific to the Province of Ontario and transit environment. - Strong organizational, interpersonal, problemsolving and analytical skills. - Ability to arrange priorities and escape competing risks to meet deadlines with minimum input from leadership. - Keen eye for detail and adept problemsolving abilities. - Must have demonstrated experience relaying and receiving information (written and verbal). - Advanced skills in Microsoft Office.
