The Day Camp Counsellor is responsible for delivering conservationbased summer day camp program hosted at the HFHC. What Youll Be Doing Program Delivery & Education: - Develop and deliver conservation based camp programming for youth aged 612 - Supervise and instruct campers on the Shimano Fish Pond and Excalibur Archery Range - Participate in all Day Camp employee training and daily/weekly program meetings Safety, Care & Stewardship: - Ensure camper safety and wellbeing at all times - Prepare diets and feed fish in the Shimano Aquarium, ensure proper worm storage, prepare daily meals, and conduct daily fish health observations, - Perform spot cleaning and maintenance tasks in and around the HFHC Assist with maintenance of pond and archery range equipment Operations & Program Support: - Ensure all camp program supplies and resources are kept clean and organized - Assist with setup and cleanup of camp activities in indoor and outdoor settings - Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period - Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment - Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations Education: You must: - Minimum of one year postsecondary education in conservation education, outdoor recreation, environment science, early child education or equivalent workrelated experience in the relevant fields is required Skills & Experience: You bring: - Experience supervising or engaging youth in camp, recreation, or educational settings - Strong communication and teamwork skills - Ability to deliver fun, safe, and engaging outdoor programming - Commitment to camper safety and wellbeing - Comfort with basic fish care and simple maintenance tasks - Good organizational and problem solving skills - Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and stay active throughout the day Assets (nice to have): - Minimum of one year of experience in youth programming - Personal experience and interest in hunting, fishing, and conservation How Youll Succeed: This role is best suited to someone who demonstrates the following core competencies: - Adaptability organized, manage priorities, and adjust smoothly to changing camp needs - Collaboration work well with others, value feedback, and consider different perspectives - Communication communicate clearly and respectfully with campers, families, and team members - Initiative takes ownership of tasks looks for ways to add value, and solve problems - ServiceOriented support the needs of campers and team members This role includes both indoor and outdoor activities.
