For more information please contact: Kelly Fitzmaurice - Job Overview The Clinical Education Facilitator (CEF) supports learner development within clinical courses of the Bachelor of Midwifery Program. The role focuses on providing supplemental, formative clinical coaching and skills support to learners, and collaborating with preceptors and faculty to strengthen the clinical learning environment. The CEF role strengthens learner development within the clinical environment and does not replace the primary clinical teaching and evaluative responsibilities of assigned preceptors or course faculty. Distribution of duties may vary by academic term and regional placement structure. Job Responsibilities Provide targeted formative clinical support to learners, in collaboration with faculty and preceptors, which may include observation and feedback when appropriate. Collaborate with faculty and preceptors to support early identification of learners who may benefit from additional skills development or structured learning support. Facilitate supplemental clinical skills development sessions, as assigned, to support integration of theory into practice and reinforce course objectives. Assist in the development and monitoring of learning contracts, as required. Model effective feedback approaches and support preceptors in navigating challenging learner conversations, when appropriate. Contribute to formative assessment processes related to learner clinical performance. Participate in midterm and/or final learner review meetings, as assigned. Participate in Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE) evaluation, as assigned. Assess learner assignments, quizzes, or examinations, as assigned. Provide input to faculty regarding learner progression concerns. Collaborate with course faculty to ensure alignment between clinical learning experiences and course objectives. Maintain familiarity with current clinical practice guidelines and research relevant to midwifery education. Participate in CEF meetings and professional development activities. Complete required University of Manitoba training to the position. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Midwifery required; Masters degree in a healthcare discipline is an asset. Current registration in good standing with the College of Midwives required. Criminal Record Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check required. Valid driver's license and access to personal vehicle required. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Demonstrated ability to provide constructive formative feedback in clinical environments. Empathetic and learner-centered approach to clinical teaching and mentorship. Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous health contexts in Manitoba and commitment to culturally safe and anti-racist clinical teaching practices. Demonstrated engagement in professional development related to anti-racism, cultural safety, or trauma-informed teaching preferred. Completion of professional development related to clinical teaching, mentorship, or health professions education is an asset. Completion of Accessibility for Manitobans training is an asset. Experience Minimum of two (2) years experience practicing as a Registered Midwife. Experience precepting midwifery learners required; preceptorship of learners from allied health professions is an asset. Experience supporting learners requiring additional development or learning contracts is an asset. Experience mentoring or supporting clinical preceptors is an asset.
