With a strong focus on innovation, 48HD is dedicated to advancing drug discovery for improved healthcare solutions.Role DescriptionThis is a part-time, on-site role for a Molecular Biology Intern based at the University of Alberta. This position requires afternoon/evening work. The intern will support ongoing research and experiments done during the day by full-time scientists. The successful candidate will contribute to the team by completing reactions, prepping new experiments for the following day, and basic stocking/lab maintenance. The role will also involve collaborating with the team to support peptide screening projects and contributing to the development of innovative drug discovery methods. Apply by sending a resume/CV and cover letter to with the subject line: Molecular Biology Intern - Your NameDutiesPerform basic laboratory procedures including preparation of samples by PCR/qPCR, buffer and reagent prep, agarose gel electrophoresis, bacterial culture prep, and solution calibrations.Provide general lab support including washing glassware, cleaning work stations and waste disposal.Calibrate, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot instruments.Keeping a detailed lab notebook and leave update notes for daytime scientists.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsCurrent undergraduate students in molecular biology or related field.Strong laboratory skills: qPCR, PCR, and agarose gel electrophoresis.Aseptic technique experience (Bacterial/cell culture work is a plus).Experience conducting research and analyzing scientific data.Attention to detail and ability to work independently in a laboratory setting.Availability for afternoon/evening shifts (between 2-9 pm, M-F).Job type: Part-time, in-person internship,. OngoingPay: $20/hourExpected hours: 6-15 hours/weekSchedule: Evening shifts as needed Monday-Friday. Must be able to come in on short notice (2-4 days before the shift).
