Position Summary Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Director of Operations is responsible for the effective day-to-day operations of Moose Deer Point First Nation. As a member of the senior management team, the Director of Operations ensures that administrative systems, staff, and operational processes function efficiently, responsively, and in alignment with the strategic direction established by the Chief and Council and implemented through the CEO. The Director of Operations provides hands-on operational leadership and is the primary point of contact for administrative and maintenance staff, Public Works, Water Treatment Plant and any Emergency Services. This role ensures responsiveness, organization and service delivery is in line with policies and procedures. The position requires the ability to work in a fastpaced environment with frequently changing priorities, requiring flexibility and adaptability to respond to emerging needs. Key Duties and Responsibilities 1. Operational Leadership & Administration Manage and oversee the daily administrative and operational functions of Moose Deer Point First Nation. Ensure smooth operation of office systems, records management, scheduling, and administrative workflows. Implement operational policies, procedures, and systems approved by Chief and Council and directed by the CEO. Identify operational issues and recommend solutions to the CEO to improve efficiency and service delivery. Foster a collaborative environment between departments to ensure operational efficiency 2. Staff Supervision & Support Provide direct supervision to their department staff, including work assignment, scheduling, guidance, and performance management. Foster a supportive, respectful, and responsive workplace culture. Ensure staff are oriented, trained, and supported to carry out their roles effectively. Address day-to-day staff concerns, questions, and issues, escalating matters to the CEO as appropriate. 3. Community Responsiveness & Engagement Coordinate internal responses to community requests related to infrastructure needs and ensure follow-up is completed. 4. Community Events & Logistics Coordination Plan, organize, and coordinate community events, meetings, and gatherings in collaboration with Senior Management Teams, staff, and community volunteers. Manage event logistics including scheduling, facilities, equipment, staffing, supplies, and coordination with vendors or partners. Ensure community events are organized in a safe, inclusive, and culturally respectful manner. Provide post-event follow-up, documentation, and coordination as required. 5. Financial & Administrative Support Responsible for managing administration of budgets, financial tracking, and operational reporting for their Departments. Prepare, submit, and manage government funding applications, reporting, and compliance, including funding from Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and other funding sources. Ensure proper documentation, records, and approvals are maintained for operational expenditures. Monitor operational spending and flag concerns or variances to the CEO. 6. Project Management Oversee and coordinate Infrastructure projects, ensuring projects are planned, implemented, and completed efficiently, within budget and on time. Prioritize and coordinate daily tasks across departments to support operational effectiveness and timely service delivery. Track project progress and prepare required updates/reports and documentation for funders and leadership. Have Valid G licence and reliable personal vehicle Working Conditions Standard office hours with flexibility required to attend community events, meetings, and respond to operational needs, including occasional evenings and weekends.
