Roel Overview The Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance of pet food products. This position oversees day-to-day QA operations, manages a team of quality technicians, and ensures adherence to internal standards as well as all applicable regulatory and GFSI standards (i.e. FDA, SQF, etc.). The QA Supervisor supports the development and implementation of process improvement through the provision of effective training to operations staff, while initiating cost saving projects that drive operational value. Key Responsibilities Supervise and schedule a team of QA Technicians to support production shifts and quality verification activities Ensure compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), HACCP, FSMA, and GFSI (SQF) standards Conduct internal audits and assist with external regulatory and customer audits Verify the outputs of an operational quality system ensuring compliance to all internal process standards Identify Process Improvement opportunities across all manufacturing operations Investigate product non-conformances and customer complaints; lead root cause analysis to determine preventative actions that address process deficiencies and sources of process variability Support the implementation and verification of HACCP / Food Safety Plans Oversee training for team members on standard operating procedures, reinforced with the use of a visual management system Collaborate with procurement and R&D on new raw material approval and new product development Report quality metrics and recommend improvements to reduce waste, and rework Recipe for Success Bachelors degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Microbiology, or related field (or equivalent experience). 3+ years of quality assurance experience in the food, feed, or pet food manufacturing industry. HACCP Certification (within the last 3 years) PCQI Certification (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual - Animal Food within the last 3 years) Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience In-depth knowledge of FDA regulations, AAFCO guidelines, FSMA, and HACCP principles Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and other continuous improvement tools (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean) Strong understanding of microbiological and analytical testing method Proficient in Microsoft Office Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skill Working Experience with GFSI standards (e.g., SQF, BRC) Familiarity with ERP and QMS system Working Conditions Combination of office and production floor environment Exposure to temperature variations, machinery, and ingredients common in pet food manufacturing Occasional lifting (up to 30 lbs), standing, and walking required Why join The Crump Group?
