Interprofessional Care Team Full Time Brampton, ON Hybrid $27.66 - $32.32 CAD per hour We are seeking a General Accountant Community Health Centre to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting the organizations financial operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and contributing to the effective management of accounting processes within a community healthcare environment. Position Summary Reporting to the Finance Manager, the General Accountant is responsible for executing day-to-day financial transactions that keep the organizations operations running smoothly. This position supports accounts payable (A/P), and accounts receivable (A/R) functions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal controls and not-for-profit accounting standards. Works collaboratively with the Finance team to troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting the accuracy, reliability and timeliness of transactions recorded in the accounting system (Great Plains). Key Responsibilities/Duties Accounts Payable and Receivable Review and verify all invoices, ensure correct expense coding, prepare cash disbursement vouchers, prepares cheques and backup documentation and coordinate signing by signing officers on a weekly basis. Verify payment approvals. Prepare electronic funds transfers (EFTs) or cheques for review and signatures. Maintain and update the vendor master file. Process employee mileage and expense reimbursements. Record and deposit incoming payments (cheques and cash). Track outstanding receivables and follow up to ensure timely collection. Recordkeeping & Audit Support File and archive all financial source documents for audit purposes. Support the annual audit by preparing materials, schedules, and backup files. Prepare all AP and AR sample requests in a timely manner during audit process. Manage the finance email inbox and respond to staff and vendor inquiries. Support the implementation of new accounting procedures or software. improvements (EFT payment set-up with CIBC, update banking information for vendors and set-up cheque scanner for bank deposits). External Reporting Prepare required funder reports for Region of Peel and small funder programs. Ensure expenses comply with funding agreements and costsharing requirements. Qualifications and Experience Postsecondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. 2+ years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting or related field. Ability to prepare journal entries and reconcile accounts. Demonstrated knowledge of Great Plains, FRxReporter, Excel and ADP WorkforceNow Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced environment. Excellent written, communication and oral skills that meet the needs of the individual and/or community at the appropriate literacy level. Experience working with confidential and time sensitive documents and information. Excellent interpersonal skills. Experience working in a value based nonprofit or social services organization. Strong attention to detail, accuracy and organization. Accountability and reliability. Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities. General Information This is a hybrid position. Days in office and location to be determined. Working environment is an office. Mainly sitting at a desk, using a computer. Minimal manual labour required.
