Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Business Data Analyst to join our team supporting the Azure Data Warehouse environment. In this role, you will serve as the critical link between business stakeholders and the technical team. You will be responsible for understanding business requirements, analyzing data sources, and creating detailed data mapping specifications to ensure our data warehouse accurately supports business intelligence and reporting needs. The ideal candidate possesses strong SQL skills, a deep understanding of data structures, and proven expertise in data mapping. Key Responsibilities Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting, analytics, and operational data needs. Translate business questions and requirements into clear, actionable technical specifications for the data engineering team. Document business rules, data definitions, and logic required for data transformations. Data Analysis & Profiling Perform deep-dive analysis on source system data to understand structure, quality, and relationships. Write complex SQL queries to profile data, identify anomalies, and validate assumptions. Analyze existing data structures within the Azure Data Warehouse to ensure alignment with business requirements. Data Mapping & Documentation Create and maintain comprehensive Data Mapping documents that define source-to-target mappings, including transformation logic, data types, and business rules. Collaborate with data engineers to ensure mapping specifications are implemented accurately in ETL/ELT processes (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Synapse Pipelines). Validate target data structures and transformed data against source systems and business requirements. Required Skills & Experience Proven Data Mapping Expertise: Demonstrated experience creating detailed source-to-target data mapping documents, including transformation rules and business logic. Advanced SQL Proficiency: Strong ability to write and understand complex SQL queries for data analysis, validation, and profiling. Data Structure Knowledge: Solid understanding of relational database concepts, data modeling principles, and data warehouse structures (e.g., star schema, normalized vs. denormalized data). Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex data sets, identify patterns, and translate findings into clear requirements. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between business and technical audiences. #J-18808-Ljbffr
