The Opportunity: Postmedia is seeking a talented photographer/multimedia journalist with exceptional photo and video skills to capture compelling visual stories that inform and engage our audiences, with an emphasis on political coverage at Queen's Park. As part of a collaborative newsroom teamincluding reporters, editors, and multimedia specialistsyou will cover provincial politics, press conferences, legislative debates, and related events in Toronto. Additionally, you will creatively and proactively find ways to illustrate these developments in the real world through research and proactive setups (e.g., capturing workers at auto plants amid issues like the U.S. tariff battle with Premier Ford), producing high-quality videos and photographs. The role may also involve covering major breaking news in the Greater Toronto Area with potential national interest (e.g., visits by federal politicians, major protests, high-profile trials), as well as occasional sports events and financial-style content such as portraits and business profiles. The emphasis of this position is delivering timely visual content that enhances storytelling across our websites and publications, while thriving in a fastpaced, 24/7 news environment with tight deadlines. What Youll Do: Capture high-quality photographs and videos at political events, interviews, and assignments at Queen's Park, as well as major breaking news, sports, and financialrelated shoots in the Toronto area, potentially requiring travel to other locations within Ontario. Edit and process photos and videos using industrystandard software to meet tight deadlines. Collaborate with reporters and editors to develop compelling visual narratives for political, news, sports, and business coverage. Contribute to upstream team planning for coverage of major provincial events, highprofile news stories, special projects/features, and other assignments. Upload and organize photographs and videos into Postmedia's photo management system for use as stock and file photos in future stories. Who You Are: Exceptional photography skills with a strong portfolio demonstrating news judgment, composition, and lighting expertise. Proficiency in video shooting, editing, and production; comfortable with multicamera interview setups and sound management. Experienced in operating video microphones and audio gear to capture and manage highquality sound in fastpaced news settings. Storytelling abilities through visuals, with the capacity to convey context in news, sports, and business settings. Ability to prioritize assignments independently in highpressure situations. Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Final Cut Pro, as well as photo management systems such as Photo Mechanic, Lightroom, or Adobe Bridge. Willingness to work flexible hours, as Postmedia Editorial Services operates seven days per week and requires work in evenings, weekends and statutory holidays. Compensation: Employment offers presented to the selected candidate are based on a combination of qualifications, experience, responsibilities of the role and the candidate's location.
