The Intermediate to Senior Geologist will be positioned full-time within our Calgary office and report to the Geoscience Manager, Heavy Oil Business Unit. Primary responsibilities include area-based tasks in the Peace River Oil Sands while potentially expanding across other Heavy Oil Business Unit assets. Responsibilities: Collaborate with land, geoscience and various engineering teams to plan and execute development drilling programs. Includes pre-spud geology packages, directional plans, offset data and active geo-steering during drilling operations; on-call operations is a primary component of the position. Interpret and incorporate offset reservoir, drilling and production data to optimize well strategy, placement and efficiencies. Monitor area competitor activity, development strategies and results. Monitor land sale activity and proactively seek out area opportunities for drilling inventory growth, including step out exploration, land swaps and other business unit level M&A activity. In collaboration with engineering, responsible for area reserves reconciliation, long range planning and annual budgets/production performance modeling. Value add projects and initiatives, including but not limited to: enhanced oil recovery, database management, recommendations for operational improvements and optimization. Qualifications & Experience: 8 to 10+ years of relevant work experience >Wellsite geology or geosteering operations background is required. Experience in heavy oil operations including horizontal, multilateral and strat drilling is preferred >Geological mapping program experience is required (Geoscout) Strong knowledge of rig operations, directional drilling, striplogs/Canstrat Ability to clearly and confidently communicate with field and office staff Excellent communication (interpersonal and written), organization and analytical skills Education: B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in geoscience or related from a recognized institution APEGA professional status Interested and qualified applicants may submit their resume in confidence to .
