Location: Toronto, ON Contract: Full-Time, 6-Month Fixed Term Contract Who We Are Were Gater Studios, the team behind Alexandra Gater, a successful YouTube channel and lifestyle brand specializing in stylish, rental-friendly apartment makeovers. Were a tight knit, casual, and friendly team, transforming spaces with creativity and a lot of heart, all while keeping things fun! Were looking for a proactive Design Assistant to support the design team across YouTube and Instagram projects. This role is perfect for someone who loves home design, enjoys thrifting and being out and about, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The Role As a Design Assistant, youll play a key role in bringing our makeovers to life. From scouting spaces and running design errands to assisting with sourcing and preparation, youll be involved in many parts of the creative process. Youll work closely with Alexandra, Alana, and Graham, to help execute the AG vision across YouTube makeovers and Instagram mini makeovers. This is a full-time role on a 6-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension depending on team needs and performance. Key Responsibilities Support the design team with planning and execution of YouTube and Instagram makeovers. Scout spaces for upcoming projects, take measurements, and build floor plans for the design team. Run design-related errands including sourcing items from HomeSense, hardware stores, and other vendors. Pick up and coordinate Facebook Marketplace finds and other secondhand pieces. Assist with calling in products from brand partners for mini makeovers. Help with general design tasks and on-the-ground support as needed from Alexandra, Alana, and Graham. Support with in-store shopping, sourcing, and occasional returns for makeover content. Contribute to maintaining an organized workflow across projects. Requirements Valid G drivers license and comfort with frequent driving and running errands. 1 to 2 years of experience in interior design, styling, or a related creative field. A hands-on, can-do attitude and willingness to jump in where needed. Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay organized in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and organization. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset. A genuine interest in home decor, styling, and the Alexandra Gater aesthetic. Bonus Skills (Nice To Have) Familiarity with sourcing secondhand or vintage furniture. Experience in prop styling, set prep, or visual merchandising. Comfort working in a content-driven or production environment. A creative eye for layouts, color palettes, and cozy, lived-in design.
