We are currently hiring part-time and full-time Flow Navigators for our partner sites in Halton Region. As a Flow Navigator, youll play a key role in supporting patient flow and overall efficiency within the Emergency Department. Youll work closely with physicians, nurses, and clerical staff to help ensure patients move through their visit smoothly and safely. Please note that this position does not involve any clinical care. Key Responsibilities: Support the lead nurse in directing patient flow between waiting areas, treatment rooms, bloodwork, and Diagnostic Imaging Assist in bringing patients in and out of rooms based on department needs Help prepare patients for reassessment and notify physicians when patients are ready Assist with arranging follow up appointments and helping coordinate next steps in care, in collaboration with the clinical team Monitor treatment room usage to support efficient turnover Maintain a clean and organized environment by: -Wiping chairs and high touch surfaces between patients -Changing bed sheets or bed rolls after each use -Ensuring rooms are stocked and ready for the next patient Ensure required equipment for patient assessments is available and clean Support communication and coordination by: -Directing Diagnostic Imaging staff to patients -Following up with labs and imaging on delays in results -Liaising with nurses, clerks, and other team members to maintain flow Provide non-clinical support to patients, including: -Bringing comfort items to patients with approval -Managing patient expectations while waiting -Answering non-clinical questions and directing clinical concerns to nursing staff This is a non-clinical support role. Flow Navigators do not provide medical care, make clinical decisions, provide medical advice, or replace clinical dutiesbut rather support the clinical team in maintaining flow and ensuring a safe, efficient care environment. Qualifications Education: Pursuing or completed a degree/certification in pre-med, nursing, healthcare administration, or a related discipline Experience: Prior experience in a healthcare or hospital environment (volunteer or work) is preferred Familiarity with anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology is an asset Strong organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with professionalism at all times Availability: Shifts are scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and midnight Must be flexible to work afternoon and weekend shifts as required Minimum commitment of 2-3 shifts per week One-year commitment required Compensation & Growth Starting wage of $18.00 per hour Comprehensive paid training provided Three-month probationary period Applications will close on March 27th at 12:00 PM.
