Your Opportunity The Post-Anesthetic Care Unit (PACU) at the South Health Campus (SHC) is an innovative and unique environment. The Registered Nurse will care for post-operative patients including opportunities to care for post caesarean section patients, post-ECT, post-cardioversion; post-surgical in-patients, ICU overflow patients, and assist with regional blocks. This is a weekend worker position, LOU #7. The shifts worked are 1100-2315 either Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, Monday. Work 32 shifts in 12 weeks and paid as full time hours. A Weekend Schedule is defined as a schedule in which Regular, Full-time Employees work weekends in accordance with conditions and are treated as a Regular Full-time Employee in all respects. Description As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at Additional Required Qualifications 2 Minimum years recent experience in an urban adult PACU or intensive care (ICU). Strong ECG interpretation knowledge. Experience in the following areas: Caring for intubated patients; working with central and arterial lines; assisting with inotropes/vasoactive medications; & experience with caring for post-surgical in-patients. Availability to work weekends as this is a weekend worker schedule. Preferred Qualifications Experience at SHC PACU. Experience with ETCO2 monitoring. Experience caring for post C-section patients.
