JOB PURPOSE Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Technology Services, the Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, building, operating, and continuously improving the organizations cloud platforms. This role works closely with application development, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to deliver secure, scalable, and highly available cloud services that support continuous delivery and business growth. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on technical expertise, a passion for automation, and a disciplined approach to security and operational excellence. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Design, architect, implement, and support cloud infrastructure that powers enterprise applications and services. Partner with business stakeholders, application developers, and product support teams to deliver cloud solutions that enable measurable business value. Administer cloud platforms while ensuring compliance with organizational security, governance, and regulatory standards. Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to ensure repeatable, auditable, and scalable environments. Develop automation, tools, and scripts to reduce operational effort and improve monitoring, incident response, and service reliability. Support CI/CD pipelines and application release processes across development, staging, and production environments. Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across network, compute, storage, platform, and application layers. Provide guidance during major incidents, perform root cause analysis, and contribute to post-incident reviews. Create and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and platform standards. Contribute to cloud roadmap planning, capacity management, and cost optimization initiatives. Support and operationalize enterprise standards, policies, and best practices related to systems and cloud platforms. QUALIFICATIONS Technical Requirements Strong hands-on experience with AWS; multi-cloud experience is an asset. Deep understanding of core cloud services including compute, storage, networking, load balancing, and IAM. Proven experience designing highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable architectures. Strong experience with Kubernetes (EKS), including cluster operations, upgrades, and troubleshooting. Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker. Familiarity with ingress controllers, service discovery, and container networking concepts. Hands-on experience with Terraform. Advanced experience with Linux and strong scripting skills using Python, Bash/Shell, and/or PowerShell. Experience automating provisioning, configuration, and operational workflows. Experience with CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps. Solid understanding of DevOps practices, including build, test, release, and deployment automation. Proficiency with Git-based version control and branching strategies. Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VPNs, firewalls, and load balancers. Experience implementing cloud security controls including IAM, network segmentation, encryption, and secrets management. Familiarity with security hardening, vulnerability management, and compliance requirements. Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana. Understanding of SRE concepts including SLIs, SLOs, and reliability engineering practices. Experience supporting production systems and participating in on-call rotations is an asset. Education & Experiences Bachelors degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, or DevOps roles. 1+ years of experience in software development, systems engineering, or systems administration. AWS certifications are preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to document technical designs and operational procedures clearly. High level of integrity when working with confidential or sensitive information. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
