We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Human Resources Generalist for this existing position to support our unionized manufacturing operations. In this role, youll work closely with employees, supervisors, and union representatives to ensure a fair, consistent, and compliant workplace. You will play a key part in day-to-day HR operations, employee relations, policy compliance, and supporting leaders with effective people practices. Note: This position does not include responsibilities related to Talent Acquisition, Compensation & Benefits administration, or Learning & Development program creation. Key Responsibilities Employee & Labour Relations Serve as a primary HR contact on the production floor, responding to inquiries and providing guidance on collective agreement provisions, policies, and procedures. Support supervisors and managers in navigating day-to-day employee relations issues. Assist in investigations related to attendance, conduct, and performance, ensuring fairness and compliance with legislative and collective agreement requirements. Participate in grievance handling, including documentation, meetings, and followup actions. Build collaborative working relationships with union stewards and representatives. HR Operations & Administration Maintain accurate employee records, HRIS data, and documentation in accordance with legal and audit requirements. Process status changes, leaves of absence, accommodations, and returntowork plans. Support attendance management programs including tracking, notifications, and progressive steps. Policy, Compliance & Health & Safety Support Help interpret and implement HR policies and ensure consistent application across the plant. Monitor compliance with employment legislation and collective agreement provisions. Assist with WSIB/occupational injury documentation, modified work coordination, and health and safety initiatives. Performance & Workforce Support Coach supervisors on managing performance, documenting concerns, and applying discipline in accordance with the collective agreement. Support organizational initiatives focused on employee engagement, communication, and workplace culture. Help prepare workforce reporting, including attendance trends, grievance statistics, turnover, and other HR metrics. Qualifications Diploma or bachelors degree in human resources, industrial relations, business, or related discipline. 24 years of Human Resources generalist experience in a unionized manufacturing or industrial environment . Strong understanding of employment legislation (ESA). Demonstrated ability to conduct investigations, handle confidential information, and maintain professionalism. Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflictresolution skills. Proficient with HRIS systems (Ceridian Dayforce is an asset) and Microsoft 365 tools.
