As a faith- and values-based organization, we hire and serve people of all backgrounds and walks of life - there is a place for everyone to belong here.**Mission Statement** The Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world.**Job Description:****RESPONSIBILITIES:****PROGRAM**Know and respond to the safety and health care needs of residents Act as a role model for all residents as reflected by appearance, behaviour and attitude Provide support for residents personal development as decided through individual support planning (ISP) Advocating on residents behalf/facilitating self-advocacy to community supports in collaboration with colleagues and other healthcare professionals Ensuring learning opportunities are provided utilizing agency and community resources Fostering independence in residents including supervising and assisting residents with meal preparation and clean-up and other daily living skills Administer medication as prescribed and according to policies and procedures Support resident involvement in leisure activities (Christian education, bowling, special events, etc.) Complete/maintain resident records, shift reports and update communication book Follow and promote the agencys and site program goals and philosophy Track, compile, analyze and make recommendations based on resident data**QUALIFICATIONS**1) Developmental Services Worker diploma or other equivalent degree/diploma related to human services preferred 2) 6-12 months experience working with people who have developmental disabilities and/or mental health challenges 3) Experience in individual program planning preferred 4) Valid Standard First Aid certificate (including CPR) & NVCI completed or must be acquired in first three months5) Training and/or experience in medication administration6) Behaviour management skills7) Ability to work independently and as part of a team to provide a supportive and nurturing environment8) Computer skills (MS Office, internet, learning management system, etc.)9) Training and/or experience in personal care (i.e., assisting with G-tube feedings, continence devices) is an asset10) Training and/or experience in supporting individuals through ambulates, mobilizers, transfers are assets11) Valid drivers license and French-language skills are assets**Work Schedule:** Fridays , Saturdays & Sundays 3-11pm **Hourly Rate:** $23.67 per hour**Compensation:**The target hiring range for this position is $23.67 to $25.78 with a maximum of $27.88.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.The Salvation Army will provide reasonable accommodation upon request.
