This role plays an important part in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment that supports healing, dignity, and recovery for clients accessing services.What you will do:Reporting to the Stabilization Centre Manager, the Janitor is responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety throughout the facility. Working in a trauma-informed and culturally respectful environment, the Janitor ensures that all areasincluding client rooms, washrooms, common areas, and program spacesare clean, safe, and well maintained.This role supports the well-being of clients by creating a calm and respectful environment, responding to cleaning needs promptly and discreetly, and ensuring infection prevention practices are followed. The Janitor works closely with the care team to ensure the Centre operates in a safe and supportive way.Who You Are:You are a reliable and respectful team member who takes pride in your work and understands the importance of maintaining safe and welcoming spaces for others. You bring a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a calm and respectful manner in environments supporting individuals in crisis or recovery.You bring:Successful completion of Grade Ten or equivalency. Preference may be given to candidates with Grade 12.Experience in custodial or janitorial work (health, community, or institutional setting is an asset)Knowledge of cleaning standards, infection prevention, and safe chemical handling practicesUnderstanding of trauma-informed and culturally respectful approachesAbility to work independently and follow cleaning schedulesStrong attention to detail and commitment to safetyAbility to communicate clearly and work as part of a teamConditions of Employment:Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.WHMIS certification (or willingness to obtain).Ability to work shifts, including evenings and weekends as required.Adherence to kakisiwew-ochapowace Nation policies, including Code of Conduct, Confidentiality, and Occupational Health & Safety.Must successfully complete drug and alcohol testing prior to employment.What We Offer:Working at the Stabilization Centre means supporting healing, dignity, and miyo-pimtisiwin (living in a good way).
