Location: Oakville, Ontario About the Role BSG Mechanical Services Inc. is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Mechanical Estimator to join our growing team in Hamilton. This role is an integral part of our continued success, supporting our ability to deliver high-quality, competitive bids and execute projects with precision and confidence. In this position, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive tender pricing based on drawings, specifications, and project requirements, while collaborating closely with internal teams, suppliers, and clients. Key Responsibilities Perform quantity takeoffs and input into estimating software Prepare, review, and submit complete bid documents in accordance with project requirements Assemble full project estimates including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing Interpret drawings and specifications, including projects that may be less than 100% complete Analyze labour requirements and apply appropriate productivity factors Develop detailed labour breakdowns to support project budgeting and execution Prepare preliminary budgets for prospective projects Attend site visits, pre-bid, and post-bid meetings as required Participate in project turnover meetings with operations teams Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing Review projects strategically to develop a winning bid approach Support post-project reviews and contribute to historical cost data Evaluate requests for proposals and provide input on project selection based on scope, risk, and capacity Collaborate with leadership to support informed decision-making What You Bring Post-secondary diploma in mechanical or construction technology, or a related field, OR Extensive experience in a mechanical contracting trade (CET or Engineering background considered an asset), OR 7+ years of relevant mechanical estimating experience Strong understanding of construction methods, specifications, and industry practices Ability to interpret drawings, contracts, and technical documentation Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.) Experience with estimating software (e.g., Trimble, Planswift, Autobid) is an asset Team-oriented mindset with a proactive and self-driven approach Nice to Have Experience in commercial and institutional mechanical projects Compensation $80,000 $100,000 annually , based on experience What BSG Offers At BSG, we believe in taking care of our people.
