Canadian National Railway Company (CN) is looking for a highly motivated person to fulfill a Financial Planning Internship position. This is a full-time summer internship lasting from May 11, 2026, until August 28, 2026. Job Summary The Intern, Financial Planning is responsible for assisting Financial Partners in their responsibilities of supporting Transportation, Mechanical, Engineering, or Corporate functions through technological investments. Moreover, the position supports Financial Partners in their day-to-day responsibilities for planning, implementing, monitoring, managing, and controlling all financial activities related to the Technology function. Critical outcomes include supporting the leadership team with key financial insights and operational analytics. The incumbent has the opportunity to develop business acumen and skillsets for the elaboration of business cases driving CNs agenda, as well as value through informed and insightful decision-making and investment prioritization. The intern will have the ability to work with both the Mechanical and CNs Forecasting Financial teams, advancing key projects to drive operational efficiency. Major Responsibilities Participate in the budgeting and planning process to be aligned with business needs, as well as communicated adequately with each budget owner Ensure management reporting and financial management processes are accurate and relevant to business, as well as drive business performance Manage financial impact of projects including the preparation of a business case, monitoring the project scope, timeline, budget, benefits, and explaining the variances Ensure compliance to controls and good governance are in place and apply CNs best practices continue Participate in processes improvement and optimization initiatives to deliver cost savings and efficiency gains.
