Hooker Associates Ltd is one of the leading Quantity Surveyor firms in Canada. We are currently seeking either a Senior or an Associate-Mechanical Quantity Surveyor located in Ontario (GTA and surrounding areas, Greater Ottawa Area) or Halifax, Nova Scotia who are ambitious, goal-oriented and motivated by a challenge and have a minimum of seven years experience, preferrably working as a Cost Consultant. Job Requirements Work independently on estimates of a wide variety of projects being able to lead the preparation of the complete estimate in the required format including the delegation of work to other Quantity Surveyors. Be proficient in pricing of all items within an elemental or trade estimate, including extensive knowledge of all factors that affect project pricing. Be proficient at communicating with the Client, Design team, other team members for the purposes of gathering information, clarifying issues and responding to questions or comments raised. Be proficient at providing post tender support including Change Order Review and Progress Draw Review. Be able to lead and mentor team members and build a cohesive productive working team. Reconciliation of estimates. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, and responding to RFPs. Job Experience / Education Minimum 7 years experience with previous experience at the Senior level in quantity surveying, with CEC, PQS or on the path towards it. Graduate of an accredited three-year college program curriculum in Quantity Surveying or equivalent as defined by the Education Committee of the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, OR Graduate of a degree program in Mechanical Engineering, or minimum of seven (7) years experience as a Quantity Surveyor, OR Ten (10) years as a Mechanical Engineer or A minimum of seven (7) years experience as an Mechanical Construction Estimator, OR Six (6) years as a Mechanical Project Manager in North America. Experience in Mechanical Design Build projects would be an asset. Strong understanding of the workings of the Mechanical industry. Experience in leading and participating in discussions with all disciplines in the construction industry. Experience with Life Cycle Costing is an asset. Experience with process systems such as pharmaceutical, wastewater and so on is an asset. Experience with Navisworks or Revit is an asset.
