Our client is a well-established and growing civil infrastructure contractor based in Vaughan, specializing in projects with underground utilities, and large-scale infrastructure across the GTA. With a strong reputation for execution and quality, they are looking to bring on a hands-on Senior Accountant to support their continued growth. Position Overview: The Senior Accountant will take ownership of the full-cycle accounting function for the business. This is a hands-on role requiring strong experience in construction and project-based accounting, with a focus on civil infrastructure operations. You will work closely with project managers and leadership to ensure accurate financial tracking, reporting, and decision support. Key Responsibilities: Full-Cycle Accounting Manage day-to-day accounting operations including AR, AP, general ledger, and payroll coordination Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Maintain accurate and organized financial records Financial Reporting & Close Lead month-end and year-end close processes Prepare financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) Perform variance analysis and provide insights to leadership Project Accounting (Civil Infrastructure) Manage job costing, WIP (Work In Progress), and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition Track project budgets vs. actuals for infrastructure projects (e.g., sewer, watermain, underground works) Partner with project managers to monitor profitability and cost controls Compliance & Tax Prepare and file HST returns and ensure compliance with Canadian regulations Support year-end audit and external accountants Maintain internal controls and ensure adherence to accounting policies Cash Flow & Forecasting Monitor cash flow and support forecasting activities Assist with budgeting and financial planning Process Improvement Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and systems Support ERP/accounting system enhancements Qualifications: CPA designation (or in progress) preferred 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally within civil infrastructure or construction Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP, and percentage-of-completion accounting Experience with construction accounting systems Advanced Excel skills Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently Ability to collaborate effectively with operations and project teams
