Job Title: HR & Payroll Manager Industry: Manufacturing Base salary range: $140,000-160,000 Location: Downtown Toronto (4 days onsite) Position Summary The HR Manager is responsible for leading and executing people strategy initiatives that support and enhance overall business performance. This role provides both strategic direction and hands-on HR leadership across employee relations, talent management, recruitment, compensation and benefits, HR policies, compliance, and HRIS administration. The HR Manager plays a key role in cultivating a high-performance culture and ensuring consistent HR practices across the organization. Key Responsibilities Provide day-to-day HR leadership and advisory support to managers and employees, ensuring consistent application of policies, procedures, and employment legislation Lead performance management processes, including goal setting, mid-year and annual reviews, coaching leaders on performance concerns, and developing action plans as needed Support talent attraction and retention strategies in partnership with HR teams Manage employee relations matters, including conducting investigations, resolving workplace issues, and ensuring proper documentation and legislative compliance Support organizational development initiatives such as talent reviews, succession planning, and leadership development programs Contribute to the design and execution of compensation and benefits programs (e.g., annual salary reviews, benchmarking, pay equity, and transparency initiatives) Ensure HR analytics and reporting (e.g., turnover, headcount, recruitment metrics) are accurate, timely, and actionable Oversee HRIS data integrity and support the implementation or optimization of HR systems and processes Manage onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a consistent and positive employee experience Partner with HR leadership on policy development and updates, ensuring compliance with applicable employment legislation Provide coaching, guidance, and development to HR team members to support strong service delivery and capability growth Oversee payroll processes to ensure accuracy and compliance Qualifications Diploma or bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field 7+ years of progressive HR generalist experience, preferably in a corporate environment Experience with HRIS systems and strong proficiency in Excel and reporting Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation (ESA, OHSA, Human Rights Code) Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and coach leaders Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail High level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information Well-organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report and policy writing Demonstrated leadership ability with experience mentoring and developing team members Technically proficient with HR systems, data analysis, and process improvement initiatives
