Program Director Scarborough Shooting Stars Society Location: Arrow Office / Pan Am / Offsites, Scarborough, ON Reports To: Executive Director Salary: $65,000 $70,000 per year Bonus: Open for discussion Job Overview The Scarborough Shooting Stars Society is seeking a dedicated Program Director to lead the Reach for the Stars Program , an after-school basketball initiative designed to empower under-resourced youth through sports, education, and community engagement. The Program Director will oversee program planning, budgeting, volunteer coordination, school outreach, and community partnerships, serving approximately 120 students annually. Key Responsibilities Program Development and Management Design and implement an after-school basketball program for Grades 712 students facing systemic barriers. Develop monthly programs that integrate basketball training with academic support and mentorship. Ensure a safe and positive environment for participants and staff. Budgeting and Financial Oversight Prepare and manage the program budget, tracking expenditures per student. Collaborate on fundraising strategies and write grant proposals to secure financial support. Volunteer and Staff Management Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers, interns, tutors, and coaches. Build job descriptions, monitor contractor performance, and maintain program quality. School Outreach and Community Engagement Establish partnerships with local schools to promote enrollment and program awareness. Conduct outreach to raise awareness about mentorship and extracurricular opportunities. Food Program Coordination Organize and oversee nutritious meal distribution for participants, collaborating with local food suppliers and food banks. Reporting and Evaluation Prepare monthly reports on program participation, outcomes, and financial performance. Use feedback and data analysis to improve program effectiveness. Qualifications Proven leadership and program management experience. Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills. Experience in youth programs, mentorship, or education is preferred. Budgeting, grant writing, and fundraising experience. Ability to work with diverse communities and build partnerships. Bilingual is an asset but not required.
