Further information is available at www.bgis.com SUMMARY The Technical Maintenance Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating maintenance and operational activities across CBC Ontario facilities to ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted building performance in support of CBCs broadcastcritical operations. This role combines handson technical leadership with strategic operational management, providing direction to the maintenance team, overseeing vendor performance, managing maintenance within budgets, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory, contractual, and corporate standards. The Technical Maintenance Manager ensures service delivery excellence through proactive planning, preventive maintenance, and coordination with Property Management, Project Management, and CBC stakeholders. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership and Supervision - Lead and supervise the maintenance team to deliver efficient, highquality preventive and corrective maintenance across multiple CBC sites. - Assign, monitor, and review work to ensure adherence to BGIS and CBC standards, KPIs, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). - Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to Technicians; conduct performance evaluations and promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. - Coordinate training, safety meetings, toolbox talks, and operational briefings to maintain readiness and compliance. Operations and Maintenance Management - Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, automation, and critical broadcast infrastructure. - Ensure uninterrupted client operations by proactively identifying and resolving issues impacting facility reliability or broadcastcritical systems. - Develop and execute preventive maintenance programs using CMMS (e.g., RealSuite7). - Work with energy team to implement cost savings, hydro curtailment, load shedding, energy optimization especially around GA demand management: - building automation systems, water rebates. - Conduct site walkthroughs and inspections to monitor asset conditions, performance, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. - Prepare and execute Method of Procedures (MOPs) for critical maintenance activities, coordinate generator tests, system shutdowns, and afterhours work. - Support capital planning by identifying asset deficiencies, lifecycle renewal needs, and recommending improvements. Vendor and Project Coordination - Manage vendor relationships and oversee contracted services for specialized maintenance (e.g., highvoltage electrical, UPS systems, fuel storage, BAS, elevators, mechanical, electrical). - Coordinate vendor access and ensure all contractors comply with CBC security, safety, and environmental protocols. - Review design drawings, technical submissions, and project scopes for operational impacts; provide input to ensure system maintainability and compliance. - Support and coordinate with Project Management for capital upgrades, fitups, and infrastructure projects. Systems and Administration - Maintain and monitor work orders, PM schedules, and service records in RealSuite7 or other BGISapproved CMMS systems. - Track KPIs, SLA performance, and maintenance backlog metrics; prepare operational reports for senior management and CBC stakeholders. - Manage inventory, procurement, and cost control of maintenance supplies, tools, and spare parts. - Support budget development and track operating expenditures for assigned facilities. Health, Safety, and Compliance - Ensure full compliance with BGIS and CBC Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, and all applicable codes and standards (OHSA, ESA, TSSA, Fire Code, Building Code). - Participate in safety inspections, incident investigations, and ensure all team members work safely and responsibly. - Maintain readiness for emergency response and ensure all systems are operationally safe and compliant. Client and Stakeholder Relations - Act as the primary liaison between operations and CBC site management for maintenance activities, ensuring minimal disruption to broadcast or production operations. - Provide timely communication on planned maintenance, outages, or emergency events. - Promote a strong clientservice culture by ensuring responsiveness, transparency, and accountability in all service interactions. - Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tenant satisfaction, operational reliability, and sustainability. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS - Minimum 710 years of progressive experience in facility operations or building maintenance, including 35 years in a leadership role. - Proven track record managing multisite portfolios with critical environments such as data centers, broadcast facilities, or other 24/7 operations. - Experience with CMMS and facility management systems (e.g., RealSuite7, Service Insight). - Demonstrated experience managing maintenance budgets and vendor contracts. - Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and life safety systems. - Skilled in troubleshooting and optimizing building automation, UPS, generator, and cooling systems. - Familiar with KPI management, asset lifecycle planning, and operational auditing processes. - Excellent understanding of preventive maintenance programs, reliabilitycentered maintenance, and sustainability best practices. Certifications / Licenses (One or more preferred) - Journeymanlevel trade license (Refrigeration, Electrical, Plumbing, or Gasfitter I/II). - Power Engineer 3rd or 4th Class. - BOMA FMA, SMA, or BES certification (asset). Additional Requirements - Must be available for oncall and afterhours emergencies to support 24/7 CBC broadcast operations. - Must comply with BGIS and CBC security clearance requirements. - Strong communication, leadership, and problemsolving skills. - High attention to detail, safety, and client service orientation.
