Wavelength Music Toronto, ON (Hybrid) Contract (1 year), 4 days/week Salary: $60,000$65,000 + additional compensation tied to new revenue secured About Wavelength Wavelength Music is a Toronto-based nonprofit organization dedicated to presenting live music and cultural programming that supports emerging and underrepresented artists. Through festivals, concerts, and research initiatives, Wavelength works at the intersection of music, community, and city-building. Position Overview Wavelength is seeking a Development Manager for a one-year contract to support a new phase of organizational growth focused on cultural space development and private revenue generation. This is a hybrid strategic and entrepreneurial role. The successful candidate will work externally to identify and develop partnerships around potential cultural space opportunities, while also working internally with staff and the Board to advance organizational strategy, including charitable incorporation and new fundraising initiatives. This role includes responsibility for generating new revenue through fundraising and sponsorship development. Given the exploratory nature of this work, success will be measured both in revenue generated and in the strength of partnerships, opportunities, and strategic groundwork developed. Priorities will be developed collaboratively based on the candidates strengths and Wavelengths evolving needs. Key Responsibilities External Partnerships & Space Development Identify and cultivate opportunities for future cultural space development Build relationships with private developers, City of Toronto staff, community land trusts, and other partners Explore and assess potential sites and models for longterm space development aligned with Wavelengths mission Work with staff and Board to support longterm organizational strategy Colead planning and implementation related to charitable incorporation Align development initiatives with governance, programming, and operational priorities Develop and implement new revenue streams, including: Individual donations Foundation and grant funding Crowdfunding and community bonds Craft and communicate a compelling case for support centred on the importance of cultural space Contribute to the growth of Wavelengths private revenue through new and expanded funding sources Sponsorship Development Identify, solicit, and secure new sponsorship opportunities Build and manage relationships with corporate and community partners Support sponsor activation and fulfillment Play a lead role in expanding sponsorship revenue for Wavelengths programming and initiatives Research & Deliverables Lead the development of: A feasibility study for a potential building project and/or A pitch document outlining Wavelengths space needs and 23 potential operating models Qualifications Required 35+ years of experience in fundraising, partnerships, cultural management, urban planning, real estate, or a related field Demonstrated experience in revenue generation, including fundraising, sponsorship, or partnerships Strong relationshipbuilding skills across sectors (private, public, nonprofit) Experience working in or alongside the arts, culture, or nonprofit sector Excellent writing and communication skills, including proposal and pitch development Ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders Selfdirected, entrepreneurial, and comfortable working in a small team environment Preferred Experience with real estate development, cultural infrastructure, or facility planning Knowledge of Toronto municipal processes (planning, permitting, cultural policy) Familiarity with charitable incorporation and nonprofit governance in Canada Experience developing fundraising strategies or alternative financing models (e.g., community bonds) Track record securing corporate sponsorships or major gifts Assets Existing networks in Torontos cultural, development, or philanthropic sectors Knowledge of community land trusts or shared ownership models Experience in artistrun, grassroots, or DIY cultural contexts Commitment to equity, accessibility, and inclusion in arts and citybuilding A Note to Applicants We recognize that no single candidate will possess all of these qualifications.
