What we are looking for As Strategic Research Analyst on the Strategic Research team, you are responsible for supporting the research, analysis and reporting of a broad range of department and project-based priorities for Payments Canada. The incumbent will gather information, analyze it, effectively disseminate it and liaise with other team members and the leadership team of the organization to provide insights and implications that will lead to concrete recommendations and plans. You will work with a team of dedicated research professionals committed to expanding the knowledge base and solving payment related issues for our organization, our members and stakeholders. This will bring them ongoing and untapped value, and help foster our position as a trusted forwardlooking partner, and essential component to the Canadian payment ecosystem. Central to the teams vision is a mandate to leverage our institutional muscle to collaborate on / conduct / deliver userfriendly and Canadaspecific applied research (including paymentrelated data and market insights), consistent with and in support of our organizational objectives and priorities. A day in the life The main responsibilities of the role will include but are not limited too: Payment Foresight Development and Communication - Support research and datadriven projects that advance the companys strategic objectives and provide value add to Payments Canadas member financial institutions. - Remaining current and developing knowledge products based on deep understanding of ecosystem developments and research outputs, and how to communicate their implications and significance to a broader audience (the so what). - Provide timely responses to data and analysis requests to support decisionmaking and organizational goals. Research Insight Facilitation and Collaboration - Communicating Strategic Research insights to a broader audience and facilitating dialogue to inform and enhance research agenda. - Establish relationships to foster collaboration with internal stakeholders and participate in contact with external stakeholders. - Supporting the preparation of internal and external presentations of research findings and analysis. - Coordinating status updates, and facilitating meetings with staff, stakeholders and members as part of the above. - Support in providing the necessary research materials and guidance to coop students, committees, task forces, and working groups. Content Development and Strategic engagement - Driving and developing content and reports on topics related to payments market intelligence and engagement. - Participating as a SME on the Research team and supporting this engagement with a consultative role for crossfunctional teams at Payments Canada. - Providing quantitative and qualitative research input to Strategic Research deliverables including, executive briefing notes, topic summaries, and trend tracking reports. - Planning and actively contributing to reporting on payment challenges and innovations. - Providing feedback to Product and Market Research deliverables, including the Payments Behaviour Tracker (and subsequent Insight Packs) and the Canadian Payment Methods and Trends Report. What you need to be successful Undergraduate degree in social sciences, research, business, economics or a related field of relevant experience. A minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in quantitative and/or qualitative research, and synthesizing and consolidating complex information, including support for the development of research papers, briefing notes, and presenting insightful and strategic output to a wider audience. Experience in establishing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Experience in supporting multiple priorities and projects. Experience in the financial or payments industry. Eligibility to successfully complete background checks that will be carried out by Payments Canada, including criminal, credit, identity, employment, and education checks. Occasional travel may be required. You will really stand out with Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset. Salary range Based on qualifications and experience: $73,500 to $98,000.
