Overview Our client is seeking an experienced Highway Superintendent to lead and oversee base crew operations across Saskatchewan. This leadership role is responsible for managing highway construction projects from planning through completionensuring crews are properly trained, safety and environmental standards are met, and projects are delivered on schedule and in accordance with contract specifications. What Youll Be Doing - Oversee and direct base crew operations, ensuring team members are well-trained and consistently aligned with the companys Quality Control Program. - Maintain and strengthen relationships with internal teams, clients, contract owners, consultants, and suppliers - Coordinate equipment, materials, supplies, and subcontractors to support project execution - Calculate truck and equipment requirements to achieve road productivity targets - Work with management and staff to ensure materials such as binder and aggregate are available in advance to maintain production schedules and quality - Plan, hire, train, and develop skilled crews to support operational success - Develop and implement efficient work plans that optimize manpower, equipment, and materials - Ensure compliance with environmental guidelines and regulatory requirements - Oversee equipment maintenance programs and ensure all equipment is in proper working condition - Manage project documentation and ensure timely reporting to clients, consultants, and the corporate office - Ensure projects meet or exceed contract specifications, quality standards, and budget targets - Review project performance and collaborate with leadership to address cost or productivity variances - Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and encourage team input for continuous improvement - Support the identification of potential new business opportunities alongside company leadership - Ensure full compliance with corporate safety programs and regulatory health and safety requirements - Conduct site inspections, safety meetings, hazard assessments, and incident reporting as required - Collaborate with the Safety Management team to remain current on applicable regulations - Perform other duties as assigned What You Must Have - Minimum 10 years of road construction experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory role - Formal training or coursework in road building and surfacing procedures - Strong knowledge of road construction practices and industry standards - Understanding of environmental, health, and safety regulations and compliance requirements - Class 5 Drivers License - Proven experience managing highway construction projects and crews - Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills - Demonstrated ability to allocate resources effectively to meet productivity goals - Strong planning, organizational, and time management abilities - Ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and manage multiple priorities Why Join the Team - Work with a respected organization involved in major highway infrastructure projects across Saskatchewan - Lead experienced crews and play a key role in delivering high-quality road construction projects - Competitive compensation and performance-based bonus - Supportive leadership team that values operational excellence and continuous improvement - Opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that improve transportation infrastructure across the province Who Will Excel in This Role The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep knowledge of road construction and a passion for building strong teams.
