Your Opportunity The primary role of the Interior Designer Intern is to interpret and translate the needs and desires of a client as well as any architectural direction set forth into a cohesive interior design solution. This process may involve production of drawings (2D/3D), and written material to support the conceptual direction of interior design and FFE. This individual will often be required to present ideas in formal and informal settings with a willingness and desire to hear and respond to constructive feedback. An individual at this level is expected to perform their role within the standard of care acceptable to peers in the industry. The Intern is expected to work collaboratively with the architectural team, conceptualizing, developing, and documenting varying aspects of interior design of a project, including but not limited to space planning, interior architecture, interior materials and palette, specifications and FFE. Your Key Responsibilities Conduct basic interpretations of sketches, drawings, codes, program, and other similar material. Support project team in the development of interior design documentation and presentation materials. Assist in the development of a design through sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats. Utilize BIM technologies in the development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components. Assist in research of concept, benchmarks, materials, typology, and precedents. Assist in material and furniture selections, space planning and communication with product representatives. Your Capabilities and Credentials Basic understanding of Revit and the use of it as a design tool. Experience with the most recent design software (SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) is preferred. Ability to hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively; ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting; ability to engage in creative and critical thought; ability to interpret sketches, drawings, program and other similar material; ability to communicate abstract ideas (verbal, written, graphic). Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite. Education and Experience Currently enrolled in a 3rd year of an Interior Design bachelors degree program with availability for a 4 or 8-month internship. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Pay Transparency In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for parttime roles will be prorated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
